Alas, Samus Is Not Playable In Dead or Alive: Dimensions

Last week, a Dead or Alive: Dimensions trailer showed off a Metroid: Other M stage in the Team Ninja fighting game. The trailer, which you can view above, led most to believe that Metroid protagonist, Samus Aran, would be a playable character in the game as well.

Unfortunately, this isn’t the case, according to Team Ninja lead, Yosuke Hayashi. Speaking with Eurogamer, he confirmed: “This time she’s not playable. But Samus Aran will be shown in the game. She comes to help the player. That’s the collaboration shown there [in the trailer]. But how you can unlock Samus Aran? Please find out by yourself.”

For those that haven’t kept up with it, Dimensions is a chronicling of the first four Dead or Alive games with added content. According to Hayashi, Team Ninja’s intent was to create the “best version of Dead or Alive” and including Samus was not pertinent to that goal.

Dead or Alive: Dimensions is a Nintendo 3DS launch window game, which means it will release sometime between the system’s launch and E3 in June.

I saw this from 3600 miles away. I would have wanted Zero Suit Samus in it though, but with a specially designed outfit for the game.

      Slutty Samus ftw

      With unlockable DoA signature bikini’s.

and there was a missed opportunity of the highest caliber. If you’re going to tease us with a stage ya might as well include the series’ heroine. They made a Spartan for DOA4 so why didn’t they have Samus in this?

    Well that’s lame.

The 3DS launch lineup is so meh that this was seriously the factor deciding whether I was going to get this as my first game or not. Eh, maybe I still will. If nothing else it’d be cool to see Ridley attacking MY FACE.

And thus this went from welcome addition (Samus being playable) to WHAT THE HELL!! (not playable, just assist). Now all of a sudden Samus inclusion seems like a waste.

  • PrinceHeir

hopefully we do get samus here. i need my zero suit with jiggling physics. so much win :)

Whats funny is she’ll probably still be in the game and Team Ninja were probably just saying this to throw people off of her being playable in the game XD
