Shinobi III: Return of the Ninja Master Is On iTunes

If you owned a Sega Genesis or have any interest in Sega’s 16-bit games, you’ve probably heard of the Shinobi series. Before it went 3D on the PlayStation 2, Shinobi was a series of fast-paced, side-scrolling ninja action games.

The last Shinobi game on the Genesis was Shinobi III: Return of the Ninja Master. This past week, Sega published Shinobi III on iTunes. In case you don’t already own it on the Virtual Console or as part of the Sega Genesis Collection on the PlayStation 2 or PSP, you can pick it up for $2.99.

So when I first read the word “Shinobi”, my instant thoughts was “My God, Platinum Games developing a new Shinobi game”. Then I realize it wasn’t. This is what you get for being too excited.

Still, this could be a good thing for people who want to see good classic games for ITunes.

I just wish Sega put more time and effort into what games they put on iTunes and how they implement them. Enough with just Genesis games. It seems that every time they do any collection of old titles that it is nothing but Genesis games, and only the same 30 or 40 Genesis games. Sega you have a rich history of arcade games, Master System games and Saturn games. Do a little digging.

Come on Sega, money made from this goes towards funding a new SHINOBI game. Joe Musashi needs to come out of retirement.

I remember I used to try to time the different phases the surf-jet level boss to its music to make it seem more epic.
