Bomberman 3DS Has Adventure Mode, 8-Player Online Battles

In case you missed it, Hudson announced Bomberman 3DS for the Nintendo 3DS last month. At the time, they wouldn’t say just what the game was all about, but now, we have a few more details to give us an idea.

Bomberman 3DS sees the return of a singleplayer adventure mode. The game takes place in Central City and sees you trying to free the city from the renegade robot corps. The singleplayer adventure will have bombs unique to it, which you’ll require to solve puzzles and defeat enemies with.

You can play Bomberman 3DS’ singleplayer mode either solo or in two-player co-op, locally with a friend. However, Hudson emphasize that the real multiplayer experience is online. Local battles can be played with up to 4 players, but connecting online increases this number to 8 players.

The multiplayer mode features something called a “Life System,” which allows you to extend your life on the battlefield. While details on this feature are scarce, Hudson say it allows for a handicap for new players.

Bomberman 3DS doesn’t have a release date yet, but Hudon had plans for a Fall 2011 release back when they first announced it.

Wait Bomberman 3DS is on the 3DS?!! And here I thought it was for the PSP2 lol

    • Haha! “Bomberman 3DS for the Nintendo 3DS”. Nice choice of words.

lol I take it you didn’t like my dumb joke? Sorry not like I hate this game series, I love Bomberman. Just thought it was funny.

        • Oh, I did like it. I though the way the article worded it was funny too. I haven’t played a bomberman game since the N64 version. I can say I’m interested in playing this.

Oh I thought you made fun of how I didn’t word it right because I didn’t put Nintendo in front of 3DS and I shouldn’t joke around on the comments. lol My bad, glad someone else thought it was funny.

The screen shot looks nice. I keep holding my breath for something more along the lines of bomberman 64. Now I’d settle for good ol’ well hard mode. One hit kills you or the enemy. That’s what a bomb does right? Here’s hoping this new bomberman game has something refreshing to offer. Don’t screw me hudson.

Guys, I’m actually super excited for this. Bomberman games generally aren’t exactly top tier games (or even middling for that matter) especially when they abandon their roots.

But you know what Bomberman game was totally incredible? Bomberman Hero on the N64. This is giving me some serious flashbacks to that game. If the single player adventure mode in this game is at all similar to the old Hero game, I am so totally in.

I loved the N64 one with its pseudo 3d levels

This should be 3DSWare as well as Super Monkey Ball. Nintendo needs to have these kinda games at low prices for its DD service to succeed.

Will it be as useless as the online in the console versions? I had to download it to a friends PS3 and use both at the same time to get the trophies

  • 4 players locally? No sale. 8 players locally is a brilliant experience. Bomberman Land Touch! Will stay in my DS for another 5 years then..

  • Online is where it’s at :D Can’t wait to see if I’ve retained my bomber skills (whoa…that sounds dodgy)

  • Bomberman 64 was a pretty great game, not only the multiplayer levels, but the single player adventure was a lot of fun. Seeing these screens makes me think nostalgically back to that game. I’m considering picking this one up!

I haven’t played a Bomberman game since the 64 (although I do want to, but which to play…), but I’m really looking forward to this title. It looks fun.
