Traverse The World On Dragon Quest VI’s Flying Bed

By Ishaan . February 4, 2011 . 1:01pm

February’s an RPG kind of month, with two high-profile DS games in the form of Radiant Historia and Dragon Quest VI releasing within a week of each other. Nintendo just sent out a trailer for the latter, slated for release on February 14th.

Dragon Quest VI has more forms of travel than previous games in the series. There’s a ship, island, magic carpet, caravan and…a flying bed. 2011 marks Dragon Quest’s 25th anniversary as Nintendo’s president recently pointed out. This means Square Enix will likely have something in store to celebrate the occasion. Whether or not it involves Dragon Quest X, however, remains to be seen.

Flying Beds just another reason why Dragon Quest VI is one of the best games ever made. :D

I didn’t like DQ style, but after playing DQVIII and DQIX, I decided to play the classic ones and I discovered they all are really epic. The only thing I dislike is that on the original ones the game has an annoying menu thing, but the DS remakes are awesome. I still need to get to the end of one, but I have high hopes for this game and Radiant Historia. :D

I’m sure I’ll like it. It seems to me that it’ll be epic in every meaning of the word.

I only played VIII (I’m not really into DQ), but I loved it because it really made me feel like I was on some great journey. I can’t quite explain why I only felt that way with DQ VIII, though…

I think it’s because you have to walk around the World Map without any means of transportation for quite some time, but most RPGs are like that, so that shouldn’t be it. It’s been a lot of time since I last played it, so maybe there were other reasons =P

      Anyway, great game!

The presentation on VIII was really spectacular, especially in the US where they replaced as many tracks as possible with their orchestral soundtrack equivalents. I’m hoping the next console DQ looks at least that good- we need more games with bright primary colors, dammit!

Flying bed? Someone on the DQ staff must have been a Little Nemo fan. I really missed the flying carpet in DQ9. This game can’t come soon enough.

Looking good but it’ll have to be something really special to beat DQV and become my new favourite DQ.

mmm… I love DQ but Radiant Historia will come first !! ;)

I’m currently playing DQIV and enjoying it, really disappointed that I didn’t get 5 sooner because now it’s nowhere to be found and online prices start at 50 bucks… I won’t make the same mistake twice so I will be getting this one as soon as I can.

Looks like someone has been watching Bedknobs and Broomsticks.

And yes. Dragon Quest X coming to Wii (wouldn’t mind seeing it on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 either) would be one of the best news I hear in 2011.
