Crysis 2 Developers Show How You Motion Capture An Alien

Ever wondered how an alien is motion-captured for computer graphics? A new Crysis 2 developer video from Crytek sheds some light on the answer, and the footage is pretty fascinating to watch.

The “Stalker” enemy shown in the video looks rather cool, too. Having enemies that are just as mobile as you could make for some very interesting encounters.

The facial animation thing was waaaay cool. Looks like we’re evolving beyond mo-caps now.

So the reason the aliens are now bipeds and not floating octopus is because it looks cooler? :(

The previous alien designs look more convincing that they can be more mobile and versatile (floating with multiple arms) than these new desings :(

I hope there’s a better reason for them being bi peds… like Crysis 2 Aliens aren’t the ones that were stranded on earth but are the ones from their home planet that recently just received the distress signal from Crysis 1 aliens.. (at least something that makes SENSE not just Crysis 2 Aliens are bipeds because they LOOK “better”)
