Bomberman Hero To Heroically Bomb Virtual Console

By Ishaan . February 20, 2011 . 10:26am

This past week, the ESRB listed Bomberman Hero for the Wii, and that means you can expect to see it on the Virtual Console sometime in the near future. If you’ve never heard of it, Bomberman Hero was the Nintendo 64 sequel to Bomberman 64.

While Bomberman is traditionally known for emphasizing its multiplayer aspect, Bomberman Hero is very much an “adventure” style singleplayer game with a focus on platforming. Maybe the video above will give you a better idea of what the game is like.

I always thought the sequel was bomberman the second attack so maybe we never got this game for the N64

    • I know the UK got it.

    • Electrium

      The US got both.

I just remember my 8 year old self thought Bomberman 64 and The Second Attack were both significantly better than this one.

and I thought the Second Attack was way better than Bomberman 64, I always restarted constantly trying to get a better looking transformation out of that little hunger machine of a sidekick

  • I think I rented that back in the day (PAL version). Gameplay looks nice for a 3d Bomberman.

  • Now how about we get a localised version of Saturn Bomberman Fight!! :D

Personally didn’t like Hero that much opo; I felt Bomberman 64 and Bomberman 64: Second Attack were the really good ones on Nintendo 64 >w<'

Reminds me, there needs to be a new Bomberman adventure game. Bomberman Generations and to a lesser extent, Jetters, were some of my favorite games last gen.

Wow. This game was hugely influential on me as a child, and it’s still one of my favorites. The nonsensical enemy designs, story, and actually not terrible music all take me way back.

Oh my gosh! Does anyone else remember the helicopter levels? Those were so cool!

Hero isn’t the sequel to Bomberman 64….its a different beast all together. The Second Attack was the sequel to Bomberman 64.

  • The game is a classic. I wrote a review for it on GameFAQs, it’s the 8/10 review that says “Platforming Goodness!”. Go check it out.

That game drove me insane as a child I had 1 more of those demonsial bomb thingys to collect so I could go to the secret world. I must have gone through the game 3 times before giving up.

But after years of training I. SHALL. HAVE. MY. REVENGE!
