Pokémon Black/White DSi Bundles Fly To The U.S.

By Ishaan . February 23, 2011 . 10:29am

Last year, Nintendo released two Pokémon Black/White Nintendo DSi bundles in Japan, containing DSi systems with Black/White legendaries, Reshiram and Zekrom, etched onto them. Both bundles are now headed to the U.S.

The bundles come with a special DSi, a custom DSi carrying case, and Pokemon Black or White, depending on which you pick. Each bundle costs $179.99, and both go on sale March 6th, alongside the regular release of the games.

While Pokémon Black/White allow for written messages to sent between players using the touchscreen or for online voice chat on a Nintnedo DS, playing Black/White on a DSi or Nintendo 3DS adds online and offline video chat functionality using the systems’ inbuilt cameras.

At first I thought it said “Exclusive Carrying Case INVISIBLE!” for some reason. Then I lol’d. But I’m glad to see this bundle. Even though I probably won’t purchase it as a bundle (I just recently succeeded in getting a DSlite after all, and 3DS is just around the corner anyway), I think…actually, did I just mentioned 3DS being around the corner? That makes me wonder about this. But, being pokemon, I have no doubt that the games themselves will do amazingly.

Pokemon will always be Pokemon and there’ll be people who are willingly to buy them. Myself included :D

While that’s not a bad price for the game and a really snazzy looking DSi, it’s still seems way too close to the 3DS launch. I don’t blame Nintendo for releasing it, but unfortunate timing regardless.

I’d sell a kidney for a matte black Pokemon 3DS though, even if Black and White aren’t 3DS games. Really the only thing I don’t like about the 3DS at this point is its glossy colors – two options for your fingerprint magnet. D:

Once you put it in your (for me, transparent) protective case, though, your fingers won’t be touching the outside directly at all. :)
Well, except for the L/R buttons.

I have a DS Lite, a DSi, and a preorder in for the 3DS, yet this looks so awesome >.<…. why, Nintendo… why must you tempt me so…

    Man… I really want to get one D:… I haven’t played Pokemon in a while…

I don’t see how Nintendo thought this would be a good idea considering how close this will be to the 3DS’ launch. It really seems like Nintendo is doing all they can to make people not want the 3DS.

Well assuming there are pokemon fans interested in Pokemon who may have the original Nintendo DS’s and are not capable of (or maybe they are just now old enough that their parents want to get them their own systems) being able to get a 3DS, then it makes sense to at least have this starter kit of sorts for them and for pokemon white/black, plus the fan base grows with each one. 3DS supplies will be constrained during March and possible through the summer, so, well the people wont be that swayed in stores to ignore the DSi family.

Knowing Pokemon fans are crazy enough to buy all versions, i dont see how nintendo could not sell a good amount of these DS…

Good thing im not one of them… Ill keep my L broken button DS with me T_T

I don’t really get why someone would buy this with the 3DS coming out in the same month, but whatever floats a person’s boat, I guess.

Id rather buy a 3DS then by Pokemon White
