Sony To Release PlayStation Minis Bundles

By Ishaan . February 27, 2011 . 11:57am

PlayStation Minis are Sony’s category of downloadable games for the PSP on the PlayStation Network. While Minis are developed primarily for the PSP, some of them are also compatible with the PlayStation 3. Games like The Flying Hamster are part of the Minis line.

The Australian Classification Board board recently put up ratings for three different “Mega Minis” volumes (with no individual games listed) with Sony listed as the publisher. This could mean that Sony are bundling a bunch of Minis together for a retail release.

Sony haven’t said anything about the Mega Minis Volumes officially, so we don’t know when exactly they’ll be released or how much they’ll cost.

Depending on the minis I’d possibly buy them. I’d say being released on UMD would be the best choice unless they want a couple games wasting the space on a bluray.

Yeah, I can’t fathom this being for PS3 unless they put a whoooole lotta titles on there. My guess is these are going to be UMD releases for 19.99 or less.

This is a great idea. I’ve been waiting for Sony/Microsoft/Nintendo to do something like this for years.

This might be good exposure for the line; I know I pay so little attention to Minis that I overlook potentially great games… Case in point would be the game Burnin’ Rubber (a.k.a. Bump N’ Jump), I had no idea this game was released back in June. Just found out recently, noticed two other Data East titles were also released around the same time by some publisher named G1M2, now I don’t know whether to pick this up immediately or wait and see if they’re packaged together… Eh, but I’ll probably just buy the game on Tuesday to support them in hopes of seeing other classics as Minis in the future…
