This Japanese Centaur Sure Is Excited For Earth Seeker

Known best for being a print publisher, Kadokawa gave us quite the surprise when they expanded into games and suddenly started to announce titles like Earth Seeker and Prope’s Rodea the Sky Soldier. This week, they released a series of new commercials and a trailer for Earth Seeker.

Earth Seeker takes place in the future, when all of humankind has left the Earth behind after a black hole threatens to swallow the planet. Humans depart the Earth on giant ships along with some of the world’s most famous artistic creations and begin to search for another hospitable planet.

One of these ships crash-lands onto a planet, killing everyone on board. The computer malfunctions, causing the ship to create monsters with its technology. Earth Seeker is about hunting down and fighting these monsters. Interestingly, the character you play as is also created by the ship’s computer.

Developed by Crafts & Meister for the Wii, Earth Seeker has a realtime battle system, but you can stop time to input commands. Kadokawa Games have the game slated for release in April.

No publisher has announced an overseas localization at this point in time, but we do know that Kadokawa have their eye on the overseas audience, thanks to U.S. trademarks filed for Rodea and Lollipop Chainsaw.

  • Interesting storyline, beautiful environment, unique characters and enthusiastic centaur? I’ll be keeping my eye on this one.

  • Seems like Monster Hunter with more RPG Elements color me interested!

    • According to video description, Monster Hunter is actually one of it’s influences or someone who worked on Monster Hunter had a major part in developing the game. I can’t read it clearly enough to figure out which one it is.

This makes it even better. Thanks for the heads up.

  • [The Hunter] Doomrider

Wow, that sounds like an awesome concept. And it has a badass name to boot! I’m not sure I like the graphical style, though… Oh well, it’s not like I have a Wii to play it.

3:36 looks like Silikawood from Final Fantasy XII.

  • It’s shaping, or rather looking, to be a rather good RPG hitting the Nintendo Wii. What’s with the boom of RPGs coming to the Wii these days? I’m not complaining, but it’s surprising and nice to see. Earth Seekers, if it ever does get localised, is definitely one I’ll be looking forward to.

    • malek86

Boom? I don’t remember that many RPGs being announced for the console lately.

      • puchinri

Well there is RFO, TLS and Xenoblade. I thought there were a couple more, but I can’t remember off the top of my head.

        • malek86

Uhm. Those games came out recently or even a year ago, actually. I was talking about announcements, or future releases. Right now, aside from this Earth Seeker and the obvious DQX, we don’t know of much else.

          • puchinri

Well Xenoblade came out a little over half a year ago, and TLS and RFO are very recent, and in general, that’s quite a few new RPGs for Wii, and hopefully Pandora’s Tower will be a RPG.
But hopefully we’ll get more RPGs announced. The Wii has a nice line-up of them as it is, so I would love for more.

      • Sorry. I should re-phrase. RPGs coming to the Nintendo Wii for Japan – and for Nintendo in general.

  • PrinceHeir

yes more wii games is always welcome :D

  • TheGoddamnedKamina

sounds like my kind of game. Can’t wait to hear more news about this.

    • SEEKER! >=(

      • URUSAI!!

        • …?! That’s not in the script…

          • 0:46~

          • That’s only in the version where you keep your arm up and I try to tell you that you could put your arm down. ><

          • Everything is fair in the war between games and game’s ads xD

  • These two guys are familiar. I dunno where I saw them before though, but I’m sure it’s from one of those game shows or something.

  • joesz

This is the first time That I’ve seen a fat centaur in my life. And now I think I know why.

  • Jeebs

Reminds me of Jet Force Gemini for some reason…

    • Guest

reminds me of Galaxy Express 999 meets Ideon meets Monster Hunter meets God Eater

      • puchinri

I thought of Opoona meets Monster Hunter meets Pikmin.

  • puchinri

Yay, commercials and a trailer. I haven’t checked the site this month, but I have been torturing myself wit keeping up with it. I get more and more anxious for it to be released.

Though I’m curious about the player characters. Do we only get to play as one, and the other two do/don’t pop up throughout the game? Or can we switch off between them?

  • badmoogle

Wow,i was expecting something low budget but this actually looks very good!I will definitely keep my eyes on it and hope it gets localized!

  • karasuKumo

Japan should make all of the planet’s adverts ^^

Sounds like he’s saying “Ass Seeker” LOL Looks amazing though, must get at some point :D

  • LOL! love the centaur XD no idea what he’s saying mind, but I think that makes it better XD

  • alundra311

This game looks beautiful. I love how bright and colorful the world in Earth Seeker is. This is one of my most anticipated Wii game.

Don’t know if this has been posted before but here’s a link to Earth Seeker’s webpage.

[Edit] Just watched the video now and saw the Earth Seeker web address. Sorry, but I couldn’t watch it before I made this comment because youtube is blocked at work. :D

  • Dear Gods of the Nintendo Wii

Please let the UK have this game, if only to offset the fact that we have recived crap like We Dare.

I shall offer a sheep that will be in the colours of the PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 as a scrafice in return.

    • badmoogle

If this game doesn’t come to the west either (like Fatal Frame 4,Xenoblade and The Last Story) then Nintendo should forget seeing my money with their next console.

I kinda regret buying a Wii,not because there is a lack of decent games for it but because Nintendo ignores hardcore western gamers to the point it really annoys me.

  • Joanna

    This game NEEDS to be released here! Are you listening Aksys, NISA, XSEED, Natsume, D3? I know you are all busy but it would be a real shame if this stayed in Japan. It looks positively stunning. Please listen to MEEEEEE. ;__;

    Ok, I demand Nintendo of America release this and all the other Wii RPGs still in Japan and Another Code R. Let me dream, cruel world! ;_____;

ahem. Just ignore the above, I don’t know what came over me. Although Earth Seeker does look really good. Far better than I expected from those screens we got about a month/year ago.
