  • ZOMG CLAMP X?! Guess I will get that, after finishing Tsubasa, I know want more Clamp, lol. I cant wait to see the character models, they made some pretty stunning ones in Tsubasa (Syaoran, Kuro-Po, Yuko).

Psyren has been going pretty great in the monthly Shonen Jump, still waiting to see who this Nemesis Q is and what the antagonist is (chapter 3 or so). Yu-gi-oh 5D’s has been awesome to at chapter 3 or so. So I guess I will get Psyren, and X. Probably wont get 5D’s. I hope they announce anime next, hoping they bring the Bakuman anime out here, I heard good things about it, oh and there is apparently a Toriko one as well I think, and I want a disc based released of Kekkaishi.

    • Zero_Destiny

Nemesis Q’s back-story is crazy!!! I won’t spoil it for you but you won’t see it coming. And wow you don’t even know who they’re fighting yet. Oh man the manga must be in it’s really earlier shonen Gantz stage in America still. Man just you wait it pretty much becomes BLEACH but 100% better because the powers are more awesome and the charas are more original (at least I think so). I’m so excited to see Psyren in English in printed form. :D

      • Bleach level? Well Im excited for Psyren, but with people saying it ended prematurely, I dont have much hope for it. Hopefully I forget this detail as time goes on.

        • Zero_Destiny

I’m still sad that it ended. I don’t know if the end is rushed or not since I stopped reading it once I found out Viz got the license but up until around chapter 100 (where I stopped) it’s very well written with good pacing, cool battles, and a really fun main cast. Plus it does a good job of mixing sci-fi elements with shonen super powers.

    • “I hope they announce anime next,…”

Which anime are you talking about?

      • Bakuman, Toriko, Bleach Movies 3 and 4, Naruto Shippuden Movie 2, and release dates for the next boxsets of Bleach and Naruto Shippuden.

        • KyoyaHibari

          >.> Bakuman, forget that, Tsuna, have you ever considered wanting Viz to release the Reborn anime lol I also want Ninku to be released, it was the hidden gem that came before Naruto but didn’t receive its fame although I find it much more worthy of praise then Naruto; would also like to see more Monster boxsets, Hunter X Hunter OVAs, Tegami Bachi and the dub for Nura and Inuysha TFA

          • I fear the Reborn anime would ruin the view that I already have for all of my favorite characters (I have just the perfect voice in my head for Tsuna and even Gokudera). I do not see VIZ doing anymore long running anime anytime soon though.

Oh I forgot about the Tegami Bachi anime, I wanna see my favorite crybabies too though, I love Lag Seeing and the other bees of his caliber.

          • KyoyaHibari

I think Viz could really pull off the Reborn dub, I just got a feeling, I can’t think of all of their actors, but I know for sure that Crispin Freeman would be perfect for XANXUS, he looks alot like Holland from E7 and his voice was perfect for Holland’s personality and looks so the same would apply to XANXUS. Plus I just really want the Reborn anime over here, I hate Naruto with a passion and Bleach isn’t that entertaining anymore, and as for Lag, what caliber is he in? Tegami Bachi isn’t necessarily focused on power levels, and as far as personality traits go, I wouldn’t compare him to anyone else under those terms of “calibers” as you put it, lol maybe work on your word choice a bit, although to be honest, I have only read the 1st volume of TB, but it seems to have given me the impression that it is a light-hearted shonen without all this power level cliche system. So “caliber”, whether you are referring to their emotional attributes or their actual Amber Stone powers or whatever wouldn’t be the appropriate term I would use to portray your message of people similar to Lag in the series. Perhaps maybe, “I would love to see Lag & his fellow (enter rank of Lag) Bees, (or simply fellow bees).”

    • Arcm

Kekkaishi is getting its first DVD release on June 21. I can’t wait Kekkaishi is one of my favorite mangas.

Check out they just put it up on their site today.

      • Oh nice, though it says the format is hybrid? Whats that mean? Im so gonna get it on DVD, I bought like three or four episodes just to see what it was and it seemed pretty epic, the main character dude is awesome!

        • Zero_Destiny

Not to sound like a sour puss but I hope hybrid means dual-audio since I like the seiyu for Yoshimori more than I like his English voice. Sorry Vic you’re a great actor but I just like Hiroyuki Yoshino way more. Love his voice it’s so funny (in a good way).

        • BTA

Hybrid means it contains both a dub track and an option to watch it subbed with the original Japanese track (compared to only having one or the other).

          • Zero_Destiny

I figured as much :D That’s good. I haven’t bought a Viz anime in years, didn’t know if it would be dual-audio or not.

  • amagidyne

True story: the only Clamp manga I’ve ever read is Miyuki-chan in Wonderland.

  • Zero_Destiny

Psyren and Pokémon Black and White. Totally going to get those. Maybe we can see RéBurst too if that does good. :D Yu-Gi-Oh 5D’s I should check it out too. If it ends up being even a little like the show it should be really good. Plus it’ll give me more 5D’s which will be needed since the show is going to end soon. :( I can’t wait to finally own Psyren though. It’s awesome. One of the best new shonen battle manga titles I’ve seen. :)

    • I wish the Pokemon Black and White was going to be on the Pokemon Adventures storyline. I could never get into the ones not written by Hidenori Kusaka and Satoshi Yamamoto.

      • It is part of the Adventures storyline.

        • It is? Then I wonder why they arent calling it Pokemon Adventures Black and White? And releasing it concurrently with Volume 16 of Pokemon Adventures, Vol 4 or 5 of Pokemon Adventures Diamond and Pearl…

      • Zero_Destiny

I’m not 100% up with Pokémon Adventure and stuff since I’ve just been buying all the Pokémon manga that I can find (and for real cheap too) but I really liked the manga that covered Johto. That was fun. I also liked how Gold used the pool cue to throw Pokéballs. It was just funny and great. :D See it here: []

It has very little to do with the show. Read the above link at the expense of getting spoiled.

      • Zero_Destiny

Yeah I know Yu-Gi-Oh GX manga is the same way. The manga’s are all independent(except the first one by Kazuki Takahashi) and are only based on the bare minim of the show like re-using the main chara’s, the same general plot outline, and maybe some of the chara’s signature cards (but sometimes decks are completely diff). I was just saying if this manga is a fraction as good as the show it should be great. lol

  • Mameshiba!!! Assuming it’s a one-shot, though.

  • Wow, the new Pokemon is super cheap! As in, that’s what Rightstuf charges as their SALE price for the 7.99 volumes!

And X reprinted is AWESOME!! Perhaps, if enough copies are sold, CLAMP may spark interest to find a publisher and finish it? Hey, the power of actually BUYING things may actually WORK in showing popularity to the creators, for once.

    • The Pokemon manga has always been 7.99, Rightstuff listing it for sale price seems odd, as doesnt the back of the books even say price 7.99?

      • If you see the NEW MSRP above, it’s now 4.99!

        • Oh you didnt say that the new price applies to all current pokemon manga volumes right now too (though right stuff says 5.99 not 4.99…)

  • Man, we all know what we want here.

    We want some ~*Mameshiba*~, doods.

Forget Yu-Gi-Oh and Pokemon, give us the beandog forever! (j/kiloveyu-gi-ohandpokemon)

    • Mameshiba is the same thing I see always in the advertisement, while watching Star Driver? Hell, then you can bet that I want it!! :D

      • Zero_Destiny

Those darn things are too cute. Always distract me from the epicness of STAR DRIVER lol

        • Absolutely! I watch Star Driver, cool guys and girls, funny story, don’t think about anything and BAM these little cute thingies pop out with their catchy theme song(Mame mame ma me Mameshiba~), and all I can do is being dazzled by the awesomeness these things are! xD

          • Zero_Destiny

Yes!!! I’m watching it and then presto comes these cuties and their cuteness. They make me feel like this old guy:

          • Damn that was awesome!! xD
I like how they just pop out like if it was nothing and tell us something “super important”~ xD
This here was super hilarious too. xD

  • FireCouch

Just curious, about how many pages is a single volume of a manga?

    • Zero_Destiny

It depends but at least with weekly series like Psyren and BLEACH it’s like 200 pages. A monthly series like Deadman Wonderland might be around 250 pages. But some are smaller and some are a bit bigger. The retailer will almost always tell you how many pages it is and if you should read right to left or left to right though. There is also omnibus which means it’s like two or three volumes worth of content put into one volume. Viz does this with Cross Game. The first volume is an omnibus which means it’s as long as three Japanese volumes and is almost 600 pages long.

      • read*

        • Zero_Destiny

Sometimes you can be a real grammar Nazi >_< I changed it I hope you're happy. lol

    • Well for VIZ Manga, I guess the average chapter length for a chapter of manga can be from 20 to 60 pages, and typically they put at least 6 chapters in a volume.

Hm my Qwaser of Stigmata from Tokyopop, seems to only have 4 chapters but at least 180 pages.

So ultimately, it varies at the end of the day.

    • Aara_Malik_Davoodi

Usually they have 180 to 200 pages

  • The Pokemon manga is Pokemon Special, right?

    • If it were, I wonder if they would follow their naming conventions and had named it Pokemon Adventures: Black and White?

        • I guess what I meant was that for the other pokemon series here, we have both the Pokemon Adventures (special) line of pokemon manga from Hidenori, and then we have that other guy who does the other line of Pokemon manga, where Hidenoris have always had the Pokemon Adventures naming in front of them and the other guy didnt. (like Pokemon Adventures Diamond and Pearl is coming; while we also have a Pokemon Diamond and Pearl Adventure…)…I just dont want to make the mistake of buying the wrong manga again…

          • You really want to know the biggest difference between Special and all the other Pokemon manga? It’s the character names. If the central characters are named something other the game names, then it’s not a Special manga.

          • Oh well, guess I will preorder it as soon as possible since its Special! Odd they are selling volumes 1 and 2 on the same day!!! Even better!

    • Yes it is.

      • Awesome. I shall purchase it then.

  • Arcm

I love Psyren I thought it ended really well it has like a mix of Gantz and Hunter X hunter at first and then kind of made it’s own path.

X/1999 is gonna be sweet I own the original Viz releases so I might just go and sell those to get this version since Viz has added the color art illustrations.

I can’t wait for Tenjho Tenge Viz can’t release that soon enough. : )

    • KyoyaHibari

For some reason, sub-consciously I keep thinking that when Viz re-releases Tenjho Tenge, that there will be a new remake anime that fully adapts the manga, I actually started watching the original anime recently, I found it ok, but when it seemed to slow paced considering it was 28 episodes, 6 of which were flashbacks, but I read the last few chapters and they were interested although poor Masataka is the unsung hero who didn’t get anything for saving Nagi’s ass, no Aya, scar on his face, lost an arm, etc, but yet Nagi comes back completely unscathed with Aya all over him. Hoping for a new X anime too; Psyren also has me curious, Gantz + HXH you say, that’s quite the combination I started looking up Gantz recently and it seems really stupid, (dog licking genitals, people who don’t understand the concept of side-step, etc) but I love HXH, favourite SJ title, so Psyren has piqued my interests.

  • I liked Psyren….until it ended. Though its not really its own fault. The autor was forced to rush the ending because of low rankings. Its really a shame it never got to live up to its full potential, it really was one of the better Shonen Jump series.

Grana still remains one of the most badass villians( though he was way more heroic then Ageha could have ever been) I’ve ever seen~

    • Yeaaah… It makes me wonder how it really was supposed to end.

      • Damn, I have yet to read it to the end, is it really bad? I really like Psyren. :/

        • Zero_Destiny

Me too. I stopped when Viz got the license. I hope the ending isn’t TOO rushed.

          • … I think the best way to explain is that it feels like… *thinking*… Imagine, in DQVII that only half the islands are restored and then you suddenly face Orgedemir in the past. Then, after that, you don’t have to go get the 4 Spirits but they come to you instead, and you head straight to Orgedemir to beat him w/o much effort.

          • Zero_Destiny

That doesn’t sound TOO bad. I’m just going to hold out until Viz gets to the ending to see it myself. Hopefully the ending won’t ruin it for me. And also really hope the magnaka comes up with another series. I think Toshiaki Iwashiro can go places. I really think he has it in him to make a real big shonen battle magna. Plus I just found out he helped to teach Ryuhei Tamura (he was his assistant). That’s awesome!!!! if you don’t know Ryuhei Tamura is the mangaka behind Beelzebub one of my new fav manga’s (and it just got an anime :D). It’s hilarious and has epic fights. Check out it’s awesome Opening :D

          • I agree, could sound a lot worse. Yeah the dude has a lot of potential, looking forward to more of his works myself(if he ever makes one), and damn that explains the kinda similar art style of Beelzebub and Psyren! :D

          • Zero_Destiny

I don’t see the similarities at all lol
lol I do think Ryuhei Tamura is better at art though. Mainly because of his faces. lol Look at that mug. Only a mother could love it. XD

          • @ZD
I don’t know maybe it’s just me, but I think there are some similarities, not enough to say it’s obvious, but some small details, bah whatever, both are great series’. xD
I’m surely not his mother, but I DO love his mug a lot! XD

          • Zero_Destiny

@Raioh I think it’s more of a style thing that’s similar not really their look. Both Oga And Ageha are delinquents with a heart of Gold and wear school uniforms that cut-off 1/2 way and look more like a vest with sleeves. lol Plus god yes I love the faces XD So funny.

          • @ZD
You’re probably right, I actually thought about their school uniforms myself, so that has to be it, lol. xD
Oga is a lot more badass though! :D
And damn I haven’t watched the OVA, but the opening was super awesome! xD

          • Zero_Destiny

@Raioh Beel Beel Beel Beel Beel Beruzebabu~
XD The OVA shouldn’t be TOO hard to find. I just watched it two weeks ago myself. It’ goes by really fast covers everything up to Oga’s fight with Toujou. And I think you’re mistaken Oga isn’t more [email protected] Oga and Baby Beel are more [email protected] You can’t separate the two or else it doesn’t work. lol And when you put Furuichi in there it’s comedy gold. :D

          • @ZD
Cool thing, will probably look it up as soon as I can. :D
Ouch, naturally silly me!! How could I forget Beel, the little naked dude and his awesome cries of death. xD
You’re right wouldn’t work without him.
And +1 for Furuichi!! My favorite character in the series, gotta love him. xD

          • I’ve been reading Beelzebub. I haven’t gotten around to watching the anime though. I was actually going to put in multiple “Da”s in my reply but… I didn’t think they would make an entire song that focused on that. *lol*

          • Zero_Destiny

The anime is pretty funny. It’s going at a slower pace and has had 2 filler episodes already (well really 1 because those were 1/2 of episodes) but the filler is atcually even funny than some of the stuff in the manga. :D I think the pace is pretty good too since the manga isn’t even at 100 chapters yet. We’re episode 8 and Oga just fought Aoi for the first time (the episode before that was the their Park Debut lol) All the actors are great in the anime. Oga’s seiyu Katsuyuki Konishi is doing a REALLY GREAT job. He fits the chara perfectly. I can’t tell since it’s still early in the manga (where the series is more comedic) but the anime seems to focus more on the comedy part of the series than the fighting. I was worried that the violence was going to be toned down too because it’s a SAT moring show (I think) but it’s been okay. There’s atcually blood in it (which was more than what we got in REBORN! anime) but the guns are toned down. Like how Himekawa had Furuichi and Hilda at gunpoint. Instead of his gun shooting bullets it shot acid. (but that did give us fanservice because anime law dictates that acid only melts clothes and not people lol). The animation is minimalist but never feels too cheap. I suggest hunting down the OVA they made before the anime. It goes by really fast and covers like 50 chaps in 30 mins plus it has an awesome opening:D

  • I didn’t know Mameshiba had a manga….

    • Ren

Yeah… Wonder if it’s as creepy as the short animations? I sure do hope so.

  • malek86

I know it’s pretty popular, and I kinda liked it for a while. Then, after some volumes of weird fighting, I finally noticed that the plot wasn’t actually going anywhere. Kinda like Berserk, except with more sparkles. When it was put on hiatus, I didn’t even care. I was really just buying it for the nice drawings anyway.

I still have all 18 volumes, but never really felt like reading it again.

    • 18 volumes? Darn its not as long as Tsubasa :( At least its of decent length, I cant wait to read it.

      • malek86

As long as you don’t care about the lack of ending, it’s at least a decent read the first time around.

I’d compare it to Angel Sanctuary, where at some point you just lose track of whatever is going on, and finally admit to yourself you are only in it for the eyecandy. Except AS at least had kind of a proper closure.

      • KyoyaHibari

It is still on hiatus, its just been pulled back so many times because for some reason the Japanese government chooses to blame all related disasters to X and put it on hiatus, they released some of the new chapters for volume 19 in a magazine a few years back, but they have yet to go back to it, I hope they do though and then perhaps we can get a proper, fully adapted anime, it seems CLAMP said that X is on its final arc, but they have yet to finish it, I hope they finish Clover too, the last chapters released made me so mad when I thought that was the legit ending, until I found out they need to finish it, which hopefully they will.

  • PrinceHeir

    Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s FTW :)

hopefully this comes out in their viz big edition(3 volumes in 1 book) sooo awesome :P

can’t wait for Tenjou Tenge vizbig edition(even though it’s only 99% faithful due to adding “H’ in the title) :P

    • Viz Big for Yugioh 5DS? The volumes for GX came out like once a year or maybe twice, it would take so long for 5D’s to get a big edition, especially since the shonen jump only has like one chapter as well

    • Zero_Destiny

I’m super excited for 5D’s too. An omnibus huh? That would be so awesome!!! I’ve heard some good things about the manga. If it’s even a fraction as good as the show we should be in for a good story. :D I’m glad we get it in English it’ll help make up for the lack of 5D’s when it ends. :( I’m sure it’ll last long too since the GX manga still runs and GX has been long over.

  • discoma

    BRB Preordering Mameshiba.

  • Pokemon Adventures/Special is it then? The Black/White arc anyways >_> Viz would probably find it easier to group them under the umbrella name and just add subtitles.

  • Glad to see that Psyren is getting some love. That was an awesome series. Too bad it was forced to end early, though, it had so much potential. i_i

  • Guest

Why not Pokemon Black n Yellow

Yeah, uh huh, you know what it is
Black and yellow, black and yellow
Black and yellow, black and yellow

Yeah, uh huh, you know what it is
Black and yellow, black and yellow
Black and yellow, black and yellow

Yeah, uh huh, you know what it is
Everything I catch, I catch em big
    Yeah, Bulbasaur, screamin’ that’s nothin’
When I pulled out a Pikachu, that’s stuntin’

Reppin’ my town when you see me
    You know everything
Black and yellow, black and yellow
Black and yellow, black and yellow

I catch em all from my pokeball
    And then I win
Black and yellow, black and yellow
Black and yellow, black and yellow

  • Roses4Aria

Yay! Reimei no Arcana! Aside from Saiunkoku Monogatari, I haven’t really been all that excited about the shoujo series that Viz has chosen to license recently, but I LOVE this series. A halfway intelligent and spunky heroine in a medieval-ish fantasy world setting with hot bishies = Win!

    • Joanna

Oh so the main female lead is spunky? I will have to check it out then :)
I can’t get into shoujo anymore if the main female lead is wishy-washy or naive. I just can’t sympathize with those kinds of heroines being in my mid-20s even if the guys are nice looking or interesting. (Please Save My Earth is the only exception because the characterization is just so strong in that manga. I just can’t hate anyone because they are all so human. x3)

Psyren sounds pretty good too and Pokemon is so cheap that I’ll have to pick it up! xD (I’ve been meaning to get the earlier ones now that they aren’t impossible to find).

I also avoided X knowing it was on hiatus and probably won’t be finished, but 3 volumes for 20$ is really nice and I think I may have to check it out.

      • Roses4Aria

I know what you mean about wishy-washy shoujo heroines. I’ve stopped following a lot of the series I used to read for exactly that reason. Either that, or they end up with the guy who treated them like dirt for most of the series while the guy who really deserves her ends up out in the cold.

Reimei no Arcana is one of my favorites because Nakaba is strong and capable and very likeable. She makes a refreshing change from the typical shoujo heroine.

        • Joanna

Yeah, I hate those kinds of endings. Although I’m really torn about Hana Yori Dango, on the one hand Tsukasa is a jerk, but on the other I like the chemistry and even he has his tender moments. I guess I’m just going to wait and see if he grows up (currently on volume 13 and the ending has got me a bit frustrated again). I guess I enjoy that Tsukushi doesn’t take his crap, unlike some other heroines. =P

Kamio-san’s Cat Street was more developed even though it was shorter and had a healthier relationship. I wonder why it hasn’t been licensed. :/
