Last year, we reported that Falcom had plans to expand the Trails in the Sky brand in Japan through manga, anime and drama CDs; something they revealed in a company financial report. Now, we have a few more details on the anime series.

The Trails in the Sky anime will be produced by Japanese anime studio, Kinema Citrus, responsible for working on series such as Tokyo Magnitude and the Eureka Seven – Good Night, Sleep Tight, Young Lovers movie. Directing the series will be Masaki Tachibana, who directed the .hack//Quantum OVA.

Meanwhile, the script for the series is being penned by Makoto Uezu, responsible for writing Utawarerumono and character design responsibilities fall to Atsuko Nozaki, who designed the characters for Tokyo Magnitude.

No timeframe for when the Trails in the Sky anime will air has been revealed yet.

  • Awesome!! I really liked Tokyo Magnitude, though never saw the E7 movie and .hack.
Utawarerumono is great itself, so I’m sure this will turn out to be at least enjoyable. :D

Bah, Trails in the Sky anime, will be super awesome! xD

  • Omg it would be awesome to beat the game and then watch an anime about it xD

  • Zero_Destiny

TiTS the anime? So it’s ecchi right? XD lol I wonder if it’ll follow the plot of the games like the Tales of the Abyss anime. If it does than just like I did with that anime I’ll have to put this one on hold and beat the game first. Looks good and the staff sounds good too.

    • MisterDandylion

hahaha That actually caught me off-guard Zero_Destiny xD

Considering the staff that’s behind it, it should be an enjoyable story! :3

  • Next, a Sorcerian anime….right, Falcom?

  • Xeahnort

I hate anime based on videogames and i think videogames should stay videogames and avoid to be animated. Anime or films based on videogames tend to end in disaster mostly because doesn’t follow the same plot and producers dont worry about being too little serious. i.e (Xenosaga/Disgaea/Tales of./Fatal Fury or Tekken)

On the other hand, there are exceptions such as Gungrave, Dead Space or Ys that are surprisingly good.

    • I know exactly what you mean. The problem is that whoever is taking charge of the adaptation isn’t the game’s actual creator. Anime adaptations of their video game counter-part will have some discrepancies. Although, it’d be a tad difficult to put everything about the game into one actual series. Budget, time constraints and all…

  • Holy crap, dat Renne. I’m actually looking forward to this although it is going to spoil SO MUCH of SC for new players.

  • WonderSteve

I hope this is OVA quality…

Some of the recent animated franchise have terrible animation….

  • The one with the scythe is already my favourite character.
