The Riddler’s Role In Batman: Arkham City

By Spencer . March 16, 2011 . 11:48am

434_Riddler_15At the end of a Batman: Arkham City demo at Game Developer’s Conference, Warner Brothers revealed the Riddler is in the sequel.

Batman stood in front of a billboard with a message written by the Riddler. You can only see the clues (which appeared as green text) by turning on detective mode (think of it like Samus’ scanning visor). Just like Batman: Arkham Asylum the Riddler hid trophies to collect throughout the city.

You can see blips on your radar where Riddler’s thugs are and Batman can beat them up for more information. However, you need to use some restraint and keep a goon with a ? mark over his head conscious. Batman can interrogate him (Batman Begins style) if he’s the last thug standing. This time the Riddler hid his trophies within traps that make use of Batman’s gadgets. While these are an optional objective, finding trophies is the way to catch the Riddler.

One other interesting bit about Batman: Arkaham City is I saw Jack Ryder in the game too as an ordinary newscaster. Batman rescued him from a mob as he scurried away from the fight.

Wait, Riddler is the villain in the sequel? This will be interesting. Guess I will have to move quickly to get to the Arkham Asylum fast!

He’s one of the villains. However, like Arkham Asylum, he probably doesn’t have any role within the storyline other than one giant sidequest. It’s kind of cool as to what happens when you get every Riddler side quest on the first game.

The main villians are Hugo Strange and the Joker. the supporting villains will be Two-Face and the Riddler, with a few more to be confirmed I feel.

“Batman can interrogate him (Batman Begins style)”, man I loved doing that in the game. I think it’s safe to say that Batman Begins was one of the best movie games ever.
