Everyone’s having sales to help out with Japan’s earthquake relief fund, and that includes Aksys. Starting today, through March 24th, a whole bunch of Aksys titles are going on sale across a range of platforms, and 100% of the proceeds will go toward providing earthquake relief support over in Japan.

“The thoughts and prayers of our staff are with the people of Japan,” said Aksys CEO, Akibo Shieh. “We have many friends, relatives, and business partners who have found themselves suddenly faced with a level of tragedy that most of us can scarcely imagine. The scale of destruction is immense, but we have no doubt that with a combined effort it can be reversed, and every contribution—no matter the size—will play an important part in doing so.”

  • I wanted Blazing Souls: Accelate.

Really tempted by Guilty Gear Overture… is it really as bad as everyone says?

    • Eh. It’s not that great, but not that horrible. I’m convinced most people simply never gave it the chance since it was so far from being a fighting game.

The gameplay is very much noun-warriors (Dynasty / Samurai / etc warriors) with an added strategic element in point capture and troop management. (Researching / building different unit types along a rock-paper-scissors mechanic)

So yeah, a pretty good game. Honestly, I just bought it for Guilty Gear plots, music, and boss fights. The boss fights were fun as hell for me, and the soundtrack (vol. 2, ie all the rock tracks) is my personal favorite out of the entire Guilty Gear series.

    • Guilty Gear 2: Overture is good <3 You should pick it up ;D

(And play Hard Corps: Uprising with me! :3 )

  • PurpleDoom

Just thought I’d clarify this in the comments, since over at the Aksys forums this was unclear to some people:

ANY purchase made in the store will go towards the relief effort, not just the on-sale titles.

    • irzbos

      what about DLC?

      • PurpleDoom

The sale and relief effort is through Aksys’ own store only, so DLC and other downloads aren’t included.

  • Zero_Destiny

I love you Akyss. You guys rock. Okay I was on the fence about Theresia but it looks like I’ll have to pick it up now. Keep up the good work. Glad we have people as awesome as you in this business. :)

  • Code

If only Deadthsmiles was region free, I’d be snapping it up TmT;; Although I do have a friend who was going to pick up Continuum Shift soon, I’ll have to forward the sale to them, they’ll likely pick it up >w<

  • matteuccio

Anyone know if Aksys ships stuff in Europe?

    • PurpleDoom

Unfortunately, they only ship to the continental U.S.

      • They also only accept payments from the US too. I was going to send it to my friend’s place in the states but I got rejected. :((

  • Deathsmiles limited edition on sale… as a special edition whore I am ever so tempted even though I don’t even play shmups.

  • Aksys pwnz

    • Zero_Destiny

The pwnz own and all around kick @ss!!! XD I love them. Now if only they notice that petition going around about how we want them to translate the Ever17 remake. Then Akyss will be Godly. :D
Still love those guys if they don’t though.

  • HarryHodd

Finally bought Blazblue Continuim Shift. Thanks so much Aksys

  • ToSeektheChosen

It’s so great how this gaming company is playing a big role in repairing Japan.

  • NO CANADA!!!

  • Well, I’ve wanted to get a bunch of these games that I haven’t played and now I have my excuse. SHOPPING TIME.

  • PrinceHeir

might get the blazblue manga :)

glad to see many companies donating money for the survivors there despite losing money in the process.
