Pokémon Black & White Sell 2 Million In Two Weeks In U.S.

By Ishaan . March 27, 2011 . 3:59pm

Two weeks since release, Pokémon Black/White have crossed the 2 million mark in the U.S. alone, Nintendo of America revealed over their Twitter feed this past week.

On March 14th, 2010, Nintendo released Pokémon HeartGold/SoulSilver in the U.S., which sold about 1.7 million copies (combined) in their first two weeks on the market, which means that Black/White have clearly outsold them.

However, since Pokémon Diamond/Pearl were released rather late in April (on April 22nd, 2007), the NPD Group were only able to record a single week of sales, which amounted to 1.75 million units. This discrepancy makes comparing Diamond/Pearl sales directly to Black/White’s a little difficult.

Perhaps we’ll have a better means to compare the two once we see Black/White’s April sales, however, as we know that Pokémon Diamond/Pearl sold 2.32 million units (combined) in their first five weeks in the U.S.

  • Well that is awesome, I wonder if it’ll outside Diamond and Pearl. Hopefully it gets high enough to sales to justify them making a Pokemon Feldgrau.

    gotta catch ’em all!

  • Zero_Destiny

Very good news. I’m glad the game is selling well everywhere. It is quite fun. I hope even more people can play it and enjoy it. :D

  • Suicunesol

    That’s it?

    • raymk

for a game that hasn’t evolved much and on a handheld system that’s pretty damn good for the U.S in 2 weeks time for sales lol. It will continue to sale but this is just first weeks and is probably going to be this years best selling game.

  • I was one of them. Twice. Arguably worth it since both actually pose something of a use this go round.

Actually, the twice was more of an accident than anything but hey…not complaining.

  • Shuryou

Shouldn’t we wait for the inevitable ‘Pokemon Grey’?

    • MakoSoldier7

well, they said that black and white will not have a third itteration this time around. but hey who knows, the aroma of money is quite tempting, especially when its willingly spilled out onto you for minimal effort..

      • Who are they? When did they say there will be no third version?

      • Ren

Who said what when? There’s nothing like that on serebii.net, and if any kind of rumor about that appeared it would probably appear on that site.

      • Devonian

        That rumor was debunked, iirc.

  • I’m still surprised this series still sells so well, I thought only console games with the name Call of Duty, Halo, Grand Theft Auto and Gears of War sold here. I’m not complaining it’s the same in Japan except it is Monster Hunter, Dragon Quest, Pokemon and Final Fantasy.

  • I thought the games got released on the 6th in North America and not the 14th? I definitely remember waking up that Sunday morning to pick mine up.

    • In 2010 Pokemon Heartgold and Soul Silver released on Sunday March 14th in North America.

  • *is playing Black as she reads this*

Well, the world has a sense of irony XD

You know, out of all the generations, this is the one time I REALLY want a third iteration : I mean, the story was a lot stronger this time around, but I just didn’t feel like there was enough closure. So if there is a third game, I’m really hoping for an epilogue of some sort that ties up some loose ends.

  • A new Corocoro scan leaked! Pokemon Grey is confirmed!
