Capcom Have Shipped 2 Million Copies Of Marvel vs. Capcom 3

While Marvel vs. Capcom 3 didn’t quite set the charts on fire in Japan, it was the second best-selling game in February in the U.S. Overall, it’s doing well, as Capcom have reported they’ve shipped 2 million copies of the game worldwide, since its mid-February release.

While we’d like to point out that those are 2 million units “shipped” and not “sold,” according to Capcom, Marvel vs. Capcom 3 has exceeded the performance of Marvel vs. Capcom 2, which itself sold over a million units. Capcom believe downloadable content in the form of new costumes and characters will help drive sales of the game further.

Capcom’s next major fighting game release appears to be Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition, and the company also has Street Fighter x Tekken in development for release sometime in the future.

just give me Vergil and maybe I’ll give this game a try.

    • PrinceHeir

yes Vergil, Gene, Strider, and Juri as well :P

though a Super Marvel vs Capcom 3 with all the DLC characters, modes, stages, and costumes all in 1 disk would be awesome :)

        This~.

No. That would be awful, because it meant that I wasted $70 on the game, only for it to become completely obsolete. If they are going to add anything to the game, it should DLC, not another retail release.

        • PrinceHeir

well they could add both options(kinda like the upcoming BBCS update)

it’s only for those who prefer all content to be on disk like me ^^

I didn’t know they were doing both options for the Continuum Shift II update. I thought it was either DLC for the consoles or buy one of the two portable versions.

          • PrinceHeir

it’s been confirmed that the update continuum shift 2 will be DLC but as for physical it’s not been confirmed however judging from arc system works(the guys that release multiple version of guilty gear xx) i wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a physical version dubbed Continuum Shift 2 in the works.

also RE5 did the same with Gold Edition except for Move support.

Well, the one thing about all those versions of Guilty Gear is that they did come out before we had systems with hard drives.

    • Arcm

As long as Strider, BoF3 Ryu, and Gene make it I’ll be extremely happy.

  • Tom_Phoenix

I’ll be happy for Marvel vs. Capcom 3….once we actually get the number of units SOLD.

Not to nitpick or anything, but Capcom is a singular proper noun. As such it should read “Capcom Has”. Capcom follows the same sense that “everyone” does. Both are singular nouns that represent multiples. But all the same it is proper to say “Everyone has”.

So you pretty much did nitpick then :|

  • HarryHodd

Nice numbers. See what happens when you actually put a Japanese made game on PS360 Capcom.
