Tale Of The Last Promise’ Opening Movie Has Some Nice Animation

By Ishaan . April 22, 2011 . 10:55am

With Tale of the Last Promise due out next week (April 28th in Japan), all we’re missing is the game’s opening movie. Luckily, Imageepoch have that covered. They say the song is called “The Last Promise” with lyrics by Rushuka, and arranged by 164. Take a look:

When Tale of the Last Promise releases in Japan, fans are going to have to decide which store they buy it from, depending on how interested they are in the buyer incentive bonuses.

  • I wonder which anime studio did that intro and which label is 164 signed to.

  • karasuKumo

Hmm not too keen on the song but lovely animation quality.

  • that a great op

    1) When the western release announcement/date?

    2) Why do I even have to ask that question? Anime producers and JP game makers knew about Western fans of their stuff in the 80’s and 90’s, why does it feel like we’ve gone back to the 60’s and 70’s?

    • Guest

The 60’s and 70’s we had Battle of the Planets, Star Blazers, Speed Racer, Gigantor, Astro Boy, Mazinger, Getter Robo G (Force 5) in the U.S., not to mention a ton more of Anime in Europe (Spain & Italy mostly) plus let’s not forget we had the success of Hanna Barbara back then which ruled the Western airwaves which probably made it harder for other Anime to break in.

      • godmars

Lets also not forget that not only were original scripts ignored back in the day, episodes were edited to the 9th degree for a number of reasons. Whenever you saw Seven-zark-seven on Battle of the planets for example that’s when all the really cool stuff was going down. People never dying in Starblazers.

BTW: Syfy is showing Starblazers if anyone cares. I believe its the unedited version.

Edit: Okay, not the unedited version. Its the original.

    • [The Hunter] Doomrider

If you’re afraid it won’t come, don’t be, because NISA is Imageepoch’s publishing partner in the West and this is probably part of their deal.

If you knew that but only want to know the date… Sorry =P

      • Ryos

I hope you’re right. This game looks awesome!

        • [The Hunter] Doomrider

Well, it’s true that there’s no official word/confirmation on it, but the timing of Mikage’s announcement of NISA being their Western publishing partner has to mean something (which was right after their JRPG conference, where this, BRS and Chevalier were announced)!

          • YsyDoesIt

I genuinely hope this is the case.

    • Just love NISA and all our dreams with imageepoch will come true

  • Great Opening really like it, but whats even better is the end with AYA ENDOU!!!!! I love you!! <3

  • Guest

I still can’t get over what a horrible title that is…also I love the loli character design.

  • Zero_Destiny

Heheheh Looks great. ^_^ And Oh ho!!!!! Engrish!!!!! I quite enjoyed the song. Can’t wait for the release and all the news to follow. And if we’re lucky the NA release!!!!!! XD So really want. :)

  • PrinceHeir

    looks promising :D

  • Sexy opening

    • Aoshi00

Very hot opening indeed… hopefully AmiAmi would have the bonus artbook.. Scared of perma-death though..

      • Haha, being scared is the thrill of it! >=3! Next week! Didnt expect the game so fast actually xD I hope we get cool stuff “once” (“if”, but let’s say “once” to be positive) it gets localized :D

        • Aoshi00

I know.. but if the bosses are too hard, it would be nice to have some trial and error, I don’t just want a char to die and that’s it… hope the game is not cheap even though it’s hard.

Yea, this and Pandora’s Tower… it’s like they just popped out of nowhere, they are just announced recently.. Good thing I’m almost done w/ Gyakuten Kenji 2 now, on the last case… I’ve gotten burned by several PSP games lately, I have faith this one would break the streak :). Chances are this would get localized later… now I’m wondering if BRS would actually turn out to be a good game..

          • Well, as long as I can protect the white haired girl(the one voiced by Aya-oneesama), I don’t care for the others, bwhaaha!! xD

Nah, I agree I hope you can save before boss battles or the like, perma death was super annoying in Fire Emblem and I have a feeling, that if I’m not high leveld enough, the same will happen here and I will end up reseting every time >_<…I just can't stand to see nice girls die~

          • Aoshi00

At first I thought you mean Hirano Aya, if so I would never let her die lol.. then I looked up the cast.. Endou Aya.. I’m not familiar w/ her other than Reanbell/Leanne from RoF (I haven’t played that much of that game either.. ), I haven’t seen that much recent anime, it’s just lately I’m getting myself familiar w/ the newer seiyuu like Imai Asami, Hanazawa Kana, Sawashiro Miyuki.. You know what.. I would gladly let Kain die, he’s voiced by Kaji Yuuki, Hope’s Jpn seiyuu lol.. anyway, the chars all look awesome and so is the cast.. I hope I could handle this game.. this game doesn’t even let you reset right?

          • @Aoshi
Oh man this time I thought Hirano Aya is in the game the way your first sentence started, lol I would never let her die myself, she’s awesome! xd
As for Endou Aya, I always liked her smooth voice, but only after the role as Sheryl Nome in Macross Frontier I started to love her so much, she’s one of my current favorite female seiyuu’s~ x3

Imai Asami & Hanazawa Kana are in Steins;Gate, the lead girl and the one with the short black hair, right? Ha, started to watch it today an I really like what I’ve seen so far! :D
I especially like Kana-san, she always plays the roles I like, like in Hen Zemi, here in Steins;Gate or Charles in IS, and I could go on~ xd The same goes for Miyuki, lol just now I see that she plays Baby Beel in Beelzebub, perfect xD, though I really liked her roles in Canaan and Utewarerumono.
I have to say though, I’m not too familiar with Kaji Yuuki, I know that he plays a role in Inazuma Eleven, but that’s it. :/

As for the reseting, I don’t know, can’t remember reading something the like, but if that’s the case I’m going to have some serious headaches while playing this game~ >-<

          • Aoshi00

Hirano Aya was great in Magna Carta 2.. I liked her the most as Mamori-neesan in Eyeshield 21 (she sounded very mature and caring there).. Misa in Deathnote was great as well.. come to think of it, she’s not as active these days? Or I’m just not watching much.. I’ll have to check out Macross F if the series’s ever released on US blu-rays..

Yep, I just got familiar w/ them thru Steins;gate, Imai Asami (Tsubaki Yayoi in BB) is Makise Kurisu, the girl genius who just came back from America (aka, assistant, Christina, girl who’s obsessed w/ experiments, nicknames all bestowed by Okarin), and Kanazawa Kana is Mayuri, the lovable air head in the cute dress and hat (she’s also the main girl in the BRS OVA).. And Sawashiro Miyuki is Catherine of course, she’s also Franziska in Ace Attorney Investigations, not that there’s that much dialogue in the game other than in the trailer.. she’s the funny baby in Beelzebub too? I have to watch that one day (she’s Carl in Blazblue after all, I got all the announcer voice DLC :).. Tamura Yukari is Celes here, you’ll hear her as Amane Suzuha (the girl w/ the two braids) in Steins;gate later, everyone’s amazing in S;G… at first I thought some chars look weird w/ the anime design, but some of it actually works better than huke’s (the guy who did Black Rock Shooter’s design).. I think huke draws girls better than guys.

Well, Kaji Yuuki (Hope in FF13) and Yonaga Tsubasa (Jude in the upcoming Tales of Xillia) are both in this game as Cain and Joshua, they’ve been voicing a lot of pretty boy roles lately…

      • Looking at the official site right now. It seems like a character can live (other than Wolf, he just needs to lose his HP for a Game Over) if they still have SP left after they get KOed, and then SP gets reduced for every hit. SP is used for their strongest attacks too though.(normal skills dealt double digits, occasionally reaching 100 something, then super move comes out and deals 1000+ damage…) They only cost single digits though If a character does lose all their HP and SP they’ll unleash their ultimate golden aura skill or something along those lines, at the cost of their alive status though…

I think you’ll have a better understanding of what the descriptions for the Miracle of Ilia and SP say than I have by reading those. Hopefully, the game isn’t actually THAT hard, even with Lvl 99 characters, and the damage being dealt in those videos were just for demo sakes. (Like maybe they went in armorless and/or weaponless just to show off those skills…) The Battle 1 video has been shown on Siliconera though, so I won’t bother linking to it, also because it seems like that boss is a test at how well you can your “Control of Hate.”

        • Ren

Actually, the game is supposed to be that hard. The director said that managing to have most of your characters alive at the end of the game will be a miracle on the normal difficulty.

          • I don’t think so. I mean, it seemed like those were just mooks. Unless they were super-mooks you had to avoid, I don’t think it’s reasonable to have a dungeon full of them where you could get annihilated in 4 battles, 8(or is 7?) if you’re able to replace a dead team member in dungeons.

  • Darkrise

That’s one hot opening, hope we can get an english announcement. =P

  • ear-rape song ;3

  • Looking pretty good so far!
