Jaleco Beat-Em-Up Rival Turf To Pound Virtual Console

By Ishaan . April 24, 2011 . 1:29pm

News on a game from Jaleco? Sort of. The ESRB recently put up a rating for Rival Turf, a Jaleco-developed beat-em-up for the SNES. This means it’s headed to the Virtual Console in the U.S. (Europe already has it)

The story takes place in Los Angeles and has you playing as two members of the police force. The game has three primary modes: the singleplayer mode, a cooperative multiplayer mode and a Versus mode as well.

Rival Turf is actually the first part of a trilogy called the Rushing Beat series. The original Japanese version of the game was titled Rushing Beat, but the name of the game as well as its characters were changed for overseas release.

The more beat em ups the better. Now where’s my Ninja Warriors?

    • Kunio_kun

Remember the days before online gaming and this was what co-op was all about? Glad the genre has had somewhat of a revival, I had resorted to punching everyone I saw during the early 2000’s just to fill the void…

Definitely, to me co-op was me and my brother beating streets of rage 2/3 in one sitting! Man those were the days.

No doubt; if the PSN ever comes back the SoR series was the Genesis HD PS+ giveaway I was looking forward to most… Need to get my Roo on!

rushing beat was a very good beat em up game, remember the last saga it was so cool the dragon and tiger super was so godlike

This could potentially turn out badly. Afterall, “there’s one company that makes a very deliberate attempt of being an ass. Jaleco.”

    Just kidding. :P

  • Man I remember this old game! That Black Cop was so gangsta with his super powerbomb when you went into super mode.
