Now that we know Tales of the Abyss on the Nintendo 3DS is headed to North America, what better time for promotional video from Namco Bandai? Enjoy!

Tales of the Abyss doesn’t have a release date in the U.S., but in Japan, Namco Bandai have the game on track for a June 30th release.

  • North america release?
finally this guys want to make money

  • Detsuahxe

Nintendo Power lied about Graces. Why are we trusting them?

    • MizuMikomi

That was a preview based upon the editors opinion only, this time we got an interview from the series producer instead. There is also the fact we are getting Tales of graces F. There is also the fact that Rich Bantegui on the Namco Bandai Twitter is acting coy about it, saying he has never heard of such a thing, then asking around for a source and where people obtained the information from.

This on top of the prospect of them supposedly revealing exciting Tales related news next week? Obviously it’s legitimate.

The one thing I wouldn’t get my hopes up for is Tales of Vesperia PS3, since by now, asking for that is a pipedream.

      • Tales of Vesperia is a non-starter…at least until graces releases, otherwise Namco risks splitting their profits over two games

Even afterwards it’s still a gamble I wouldn’t put money on

        • HarryHodd

Seems like a lot of people still want it.

Seriously though, it should get localized.

  • holyPaladin

Lol I thought this is US trailer :)

  • joesz

Did I hear chopper in there?

  • kylehyde

I hope that this title get localized for other territories (europe, australia).

  • bonus soundtrack included baby!!!

    • It’s actually a drama CD :/

I hope I don’t have to explain that. But I’ll say that I’d definitely like it. The drama CD, that is.

  • Zero_Destiny

Oh man I just remembered how much I love this game. ^_^ Can’t wait to play ot again. Looking forward to the US release. :)

  • Europe, Namco Bandai!

    Bring it to freaking EUROPE!

And localize it to FIGS while you are at it.

  • Guest

It’s a port. I’m now more interested in that new Tri-Ace game.

  • I am for sure going to be flamed for this statement. But….

Am I the only one who thought the English opening theme was better with the epic 80/90’s rock style?

    • vadde939

Well they’re mostly the same theme just the English one is without the lyrics but yeah I agree the English version sounds better.

    • Draparde

I agree with you, i enjoy the mixed one someone made on youtube as well thoguh (basicly took both versions and made them into one song)

    • Zero_Destiny

Not the only one. So here. Full and Extended Cuts of the instrumental. ^_^

    • raymk

Meh I like them both, the majority of people usually like the themes without the lyrics and most don’t like j-pop at all even though they like anime. I actually can’t choose between them.

  • Draparde

lmao at the article title XD i enjoy every tales of trailer!…though i probably enjoy them even more knowing ill get to play it (even if i dont realize im enjoying it more!)

  • Luke’s smile during the clip in with the attack, wow. I love how the character cut-ins appear during the time when mystic artes are used. It would be my first Tales game where I experience it. I believe it definitely enhances the feeling of battle and connection. I cant wait for the english trailer so I can know what they were talking about.

    • Ren

I prefer when the cut ins appear before the Mystic Arte starts, they mask the loading times and don’t interrupt the action, it also helps that the Team Destiny Mystic Artes are more cinematic and over top.

  • Yamaneko22

I’ve already played this on PS2 and will only get it if it is released in Europe. If no then sorry Namco Bandai…

  • So glad this is coming to the US again. It’s my favorite Tales game and I hope it does well. Damn you Namco-Bandai, my wallet is in a corner crying somewhere because of all the goodness you’re releasing. :)

I wonder if pre-ordering the Japanese from PlayAsia nets you the drama CD? Do they usually do pre-order bonuses…

  • I hope this gets released before december, SERIOUSLY!!

  • Ryuhawkin

Abyss is one of my favoritest games ever…but I’d buy the 3ds version if I ever get a 3DS, after the next two slimmer and better versions are released in the next year or so. This game and Zelda.

  • zhemos

We better be getting the JP audio, I’m not buying this game again and playing through It without voiced skits.

    • I think the interview said that they had trouble fitting the game on the card, so I doubt they have space for dual audio.

    • PurpleDoom

I’ve been under the impression that the game is in every way identical to the English PS2 version (aside from the obvious changes needed in the platform switch), so dual audio is highly unlikely, IMO.

  • gatotsu911

    “Tear Grants”
Well, at least it’s not “Tear Glants”. That’d just be weird.

  • I am so overjoyed at the news. I’m still pulling for an August 2011 release!

You know, between this, Tales of Graces F and Enslaved, Namco Bandai is working its way back into my heart again.

  • xflame10

so how does this game compare to DoANW? i loved that one.

    • It actually blows that one out of the water, definitely in the upper echelon of Tales of games.

      • xflame10

well i either have to give up blazblue or zelda to get this…. thanks for the help

    • Zero_Destiny

Tales of Symphonia 2: Dawn of the New World for the Wii? If that’s what’s your talking about I say it’s definitely better. The combat is very similar with the free-range of motion. But the exploration is better, you can actually travel the world map, and fly in an airship. The skits aren’t voiced though like they are in Symphonia 2 though which is kind of sad.

I found the story in Abyss to be better as well. Lots of good twist and turns. It started kinda plain but four or five hours in the story really picks up. The acting is good and all the charas are well thought out. You get more than two party members this time but don’t have the ability to recruit monsters into your party. It can be pretty long I think I put like 60 or 70 hours into it and I say it’s a bit more difficult than Symphonia 2 but not beat yourself up over it kinda hard. If you really liked Symphonia 2 then I think you’ll Abyss. It’s one of the favorite games for a lot of American Tales fans.

      • xflame10

        thanks i’ll look into this.

  • LynxAmali

Why Abyss? Of all the possible…Ergh! I just….
Damn you, Bamco. Damn you to hell!
    *opens wallet*

  • PrinceHeir

namco has been so kind as of lately :)

    Vesperia and Xillia anyone? :D

but i will buy Grace F and this just to show that there is a market here :P

  • Masengan

Mandatory buy for me even if I did play the PS2 version like 3 times… Support!
