By Ishaan . April 29, 2011 . 12:36am

Remember the Phantasy Star Online 2 trailer that we posted last week? There’s an English version of that same trailer out now, so you can read the text. Take a look:

Phantasy Star Online 2 is an entirely new game, and will go into alpha-testing this summer in Japan. The game is being developed for PCs.

Yup, SEGA sure knows how to make english trailers pretty fast. Engaging HYPE MODE!

      Why just for PC?

      • http://www.youtube.com/user/EnvyMizuhashi Garyuu

Cuz…it’s Phantasy Star “Online” 2? I don’t think SEGA wants to take the DC Online initiative like shoehorning a PC game to consoles, but so long as this game supports gamepads, I’m game.

        • Guest

Eh? I remember playing PSO on the DC with dial up just fine so don’t really see the point in making it PC only. This isn’t a WoW approach.

Because there is no point in trying to get an MMO to work on consoles. Especially if you want a real MMO.

        • Guest

These games never struck me as huge MMO’s though. More like RPG’s with a bit more extensive online co-op play. And PS3 exclusive DC Online is the fastest selling game in history and has gotten good reviews

Id imagine it has something to do with sales and/or long-term users

  • M’iau M’iaut

Ahhhh that good old universal language Engrish.

Gotta say I’m a bit worried they are calling this PSO2 but did not see the words ‘Pioneer’ or ‘Ragol’. I want my old skool rappies and boomas, not their cousins. We have a ship both ahead of and behind P2 that could be utilized.

That pumping music beat is also too much PSU and not enough PSO.

Still got my FOnewearl fingers and toes crossed!

It’s something KIND of like english, anyway.

Oh man. Abrupt events? That’s what I’ve been waiting for. Preordered.

  • ikiryou

…And as usual Japan does its part to induce extreme American drooling. Don’t forget your towel!

Probably the only game I’ll ever subscribe.

  • d19xx

This game has yet to be released and this is pretty much a confirmation of a western release and yet Infinity has been out for months and we have yet to hear a word….

Damn this looks so great, but damn, i dont think my computer can handle it

  • Balmung

Hoping my HP Envy 17″ can handle this otherwise I’m screwed XD

  • http://twitter.com/#!/Leafy_Cam Leafhopper

Also (even though I know it won’t) this better not end up like Final Fantasy XIV with broken things.

  • dragoon_slayer12

i’m hoping it comes to the ps3 or ngp. i’ve if not, this is my reason to buy a gaming laptop. its not the prettiest game so far, but it looks great. thats why i love anime looking games, they hold up very well as they age (unlike final fantasy, fear 1, lost planet, etc). Rogue Galaxy, Valkyrie profile 2, star ocean 3 all look very good, and their over 5 years old now

    • andref

…. and the reason why I can still play N64 games without cringing

      • dragoon_slayer12

i know what you mean. its one of the main reasons i haven’t hopped back on FFVII

If there is a demo released I will try it. Cause this time around it seems as if there are more ways to play than in the old PSO Episode 1 & 2. And I put down like 200h or so in offline mode there. Or wait, it was more.

Interesting video and combat system. Now if the monthly fee could be quite cheap I would be really interested in it.

  • Happy Gamer

Wow Phantasy Star is “bringing it back” eh?
Remember when monster hunter was “game play similar to PSO?”
its common to say “Gameplay similar to MH” now.
I hope this game rocks. I skipped out onf Universe despite waiting
for it for so long. :(
I dunno i got to this point in gaming where I can’t play
multiplayer games without someone wanting to play with me regularly.
I used to log on and play with random ppl and enjoyed it alot.
Stopped doing that like 4-5 years ago.

  • IceRomancer

I’m gonna have to consider building a good gaming computer for this if things keep looking this good! I still play phantasy star portable 2 all the time!:)

  • eilegz

the fighting system looks great and it seems kinda like a improved phantasy star portable experience

Only heroes can prevail their future!

  • PrinceHeir

would love a Console release but as long as we get a new one, it’s fine by me :)

hopefully they also make a new Monster Hunter Frontier with the same engine as Lost Planet 2 and up to 8 players(can’t remember how many players can join a game)

  • ninjaonizuka

id think this will run on my current pc :I but hopefully i will be able to get a new 1 soon :P *sigh* it sucks u have to subscribe wen u already bought the game >.<

  • Darkrise

My jaw has droppped. I want this so much! Along with Blade & Soul :D

  • solbalmung

    Wow, huge swords ftw =D
By the way, am I the only one who thinks that the music is pretty good so far?

  • http://www.peoplesnote.org Don Reba

The graphics have not changed since the Dreamcast days, but still good. I’d like to try it.

  • http://www.norwichretrogaming.co.uk/ Norwich Retro Gaming

This should be being released on a Sega system that is online! Not on a PC!

  • Kai2591

    So tired of WOW.
