Shueisha To Launch New “Pure Manga Magazine”

By Ishaan . May 8, 2011 . 2:58pm

Weekly Shonen Jump publisher, Shueisha, will be launching a new manga magazine in Japan this summer. The news comes by way of the publisher’s Miracle Jump magazine, which describes it as a “pure manga magazine”.

More information on this front will be revealed on May 26th. All that’s known for the moment is that the new magazine will not cater to any particular age range or gender. Shueisha manga, along with that of Shogakukan’s, is published in the U.S. by Viz, who are co-owned by both companies.

intriguing. I’ll see where they go with this

  • They should make it the first english + jpn pure digital manga available to US and JPN. same day.

Cool hopefully it’ll get a couple good new series going!

  • Awesom! A chance to get in a lot of potential new talent! This a perfect spot for new mangakas since the regular Jump is so strict on newcomers.

  • Pure manga, huh? I wonder what kind of mangas will end up getting on there. Since there’s no target age range or gender audience, it might be quite the wild card, huh?

Hmm, a magazine that isn’t pigeonholed is actually kind of really exciting to me! I hope this means a wide-range of topics/plots and genre-bending. I’d love to see where this goes!

it’s good Viz has been picking alot of titles lately, so yeah pick Kaichou wa Maid Sama! Viz!!! since tokyopop is no more.

    • I didnt see Viz mentioned as picking up any titles in this article. Anyway since its their 20th or so anniversary, I expect great things ^_^

      • PrinceHeir

well Viz is part of the two(“co owned by both companies”) so i expect some viz news sometime this year ^^

i don’t want Maid Sama! dropping out due to tokyopop :(
