By Ishaan . May 9, 2011 . 11:01pm

We’ve seen Street Fighter manga and art books before, but now, Capcom are collaborating with a company named Eagle One to create a 90-minute motion comic, titled Street Fighter: The New Challengers. Here’s a teaser trailer:

The New Challengers will cover Ryu as he begins his journey around the world, Chun Li’s investigation of Shadaloo, Cammy’s investigation of her past, and Ken’s wedding, which ends up being crashed by Vega.

Street Fighter: The New Challengers will release on August 2nd as a standalone DVD. A limited edition version will come with a t-shirt, while copies pre-ordered through the Eagle One online store will come with a Street Fighter figurine.

Great to see Udon’s art becoming a motion comic. :)

Finally. I have the first one. SF Round One Motion Comic from them. I’ve emailed them a couple of times about when the 2nd one was coming out. I kept expecting it but nothing every time.

At least now I know it coming for real.

Not sure how interesting this is going to be.. I had the MGS motion comic on DVD but the Ashley Wood drawing was very sketchy it was like watching a bunch of storyboards.. The Watchmen one was kinda cool, but all the chars were all voiced by one guy (even the female ones), so it felt a bit weird like an audio book..

This is that same comic that was included with those Nuby Street Fighter PS2 gamepads, right?

  • Apache_Chief

Ugh, comic books dialog does NOT lend itself well to full voicing.

I was dismayed with the SF4 bluray movie that came with the SF4 SE pack, and this doesn’t look any better. I’ve seen animated comics done well, but the way this ones animated looks particularly bland.

I know this is an animated comic, but what happened to the awesome quality of the original SF2 animated movie? :( Or at least expand on the Juri SSF4 anime that was only out on 360.
