Platinum the Trinity Shines In BlazBlue: Continuum Shift

By Ishaan . May 10, 2011 . 8:25am

Arc System Works released their Version 1.03 update to BlazBlue: Continuum Shift on the Xbox 360 in Japan today. The patch balances the game to the latest version of BlazBlue: Continuum Shift II, which is currently exclusive to arcades, the PSP and the Nintendo 3DS.

Along with the balance patch also comes the Platinum the Trinity character, which is sold separately as downloadable content. While the PlayStation 3 version of the patch will release on May 12th, the Platinum the Trinity DLC won’t be available, due to the PlayStation Network outage. It’s unclear how Arc System Works will be able to release the balancing patch since PSN is still down as of this post.

You can watch a trailer for the Platinum the Trinity patch above, read up on a list of changes the patch makes in this post. Aksys will release the patch in the U.S. sometime this month, too.

Update: Spencer here, ah I didn’t realize the patches were on a different server. At least everyone playing BlazBlue: Continuum Shift on PS3 will be able to practice playing with the balancing patch offline.

the game can still be patch without PSN, we just can’t get Platinum for awhile

    • PrinceHeir

wait i thought we already have platinum? or is that makoto?

      • Code

Your thinking Makoto, the first DLC character released likely >w<'

        • PrinceHeir

          ohh i see ^^

    • Ah I see! I haven’t tried to patch any PSN games, so thank you for the heads up. Arc System Works mentioned the patch will only work offline, which was a bit puzzling since I thought you would have to connect to PSN to download it.

      Apologies to Ishaan for editing his post ><;;

    • It can patch to title updates, but if the 1.03 patch is still a marketplace item then. . . yeah. =(

    • Right. I patched Dragon Age 2 yesterday with no problem.

  • PurpleDoom

I’ve heard that all patches still work, so I’d guess that they’re downloaded from something other than PSN.

Patches are on a different server. Same with store downloads

  • VisualData

yeah patches and dlcs are on different server. Thats how it is possible

My games have still been getting patched, even with the PSN being down.

  • Editedit-
Huh. Someone Dustloop tested it out. They deleted the local cache, and PS3 version did indeed pick up 1.02 through the patch service. Strange since I thought it was handled as a marketplace item rather than a title update. Very nice though! :D

just for a heads up that for xbox 360 the patch is available for NA and so is platinum

  • God, never in all my life have I wished I had a 360 right now T.T
Well, I’m pretty busy right now, by the time I’m done the PSN should be back up…..Hopefully….I need my Platinum!!! T.T

    • I have a 360. I´m not spending another 40US for the game and the cost for a new arcade stick and a fee for monthly playing just for a character that I also have to pay for :p

I´ll wait for PSN to get online before doing my upgrade. Should practice more though.

Here´s to crossing our fingers that Sony get their lazy fingers out from their behind and make a good security PSN this time around. And fast.

    My Loli Girl Platinum!!!!! T~T

    • Everyone stand back, you don’t wanna get in Ragna’s way when he sees a loli. xD

Platinum is pretty cute but I can’t really play as her. My main is Jin. Forever and ever.

  • cj_iwakura

    It’s Tsubaki time!

  • mikanko

Yay for Rachel being playable again. This new Tsubaki character seems ok too!

  • Darkrise

Hhahaha! I’m finally having fun playing Rachel again! And Platinum is pretty fun to play too =P Just too cute!

  • Platinum and her noble steed! It all makes my nose bleed…

  • Thanks Sony :(

  • darkfox1

someone explain to me how you can still get the patch without PSN? Do all you need is a internet connection on your PS3 or something?

  • Aiddon

Platinum is WEIRD, even weirder than a lot of the other unorthodox characters in the game. It’s like seeing Faust as a three foot mahou shoujo
