Did Behaviour Cancel Wet 2?

By Spencer . May 17, 2011 . 2:42am

wet_ps3_coverAfter Vivendi folded into Activision, Bethesda picked up and published Wet. This action game starred Rubi, an acrobatic assassin. Behaviour CEO Rémi Racine casually announced Wet 2 right now and Naughty Bear 2 late last year… and Wet 2 may have been canceled sometime this year.

A LinkedIn profile from an ex-Behaviour employee lists Wet 2 as a canceled game. Roughly around March and April 2011, a number of A2M/Behaviour employees working on Wet 2 also left the company and transitioned to nearby studios like Eidos Montreal.

One program details some of the programming – slow motion effects, SPU coding, a hair simulation system, and a linked wind generation system. This programmer is still at Behaviour, but is now working on an unannounced Nintendo 3DS and Wii action game with the same studio.

Wet was one of the those run of the mill games that you played was Ok and then forgot about. Not sure it really needed a sequel.

Room for improvement…..like Red Steel to Red Steel 2 (night and day really)

Red Steel and Red Steel 2 are completely different game, only has slightly similar gameplay. I still not sure why game is titled “Red Steel 2”.

Well…same developer, same title so hence the point that games can change in scope and layout in their sequels. They don’t have to be the same if the former game wasn’t well received. ie, room for improvement in design

The soundtrack to Wet was amazing and the gameplay – if further refined could have been fantastic.

As it stands it felt like a mix of guns and tony hawk. I am sad to see it won’t get a second chance.

Bummer. I enjoyed the demo, but never purchased the full thing. I shouldn’t have been dissuaded by middling reviews! A sequel would have been neat though if the soundtrack was as good as the first’s!
