New Pokémon Battrio Arcade Game In Japan, New Title Reveal Next Month

By Ishaan . May 21, 2011 . 1:30pm

Remember last month’s rumour that Dengeki Nintendo DS magazine would reveal a new Pokémon game this month? That was true! Unfortunately, it isn’t the kind of game one had in mind (via GoNintendo).

The “new” title is Pokémon Battrio V, a new version of a Japanese Pokémon arcade game. Battrio V add Pokémon from Black/White to the game. Here’s a trailer for a Pokémon Battrio 0 machine:

Disappointed? Stay with us; there’s more! While Dengeki were referring to their arcade reveal,  CoroCoro magazine — which is the usual source of all breaking Pokémon game news in Japan — recently stated that they, too, will be revealing a new Pokémon title soon. CoroCoro’s reveal is set for June.

     Pokemon Gray for 3DS? :P

Theyd really reveal and release that at the edge of one year in JPN? Thats mighty fast and early.

It’s the best thing they can do if they want to resuscitate 3DS sales, definitely expecting it in October/November

With a Super Mario Bros and Mario Kart coming to 3DS most likely there first before everywhere else, I highly doubt 3DS sales will be in need of a Pokemon third version to complement them to rescue 3DS sales during the other half of this year.

Gotta have something to defend against PSP2. Monster Hunter > Mario Kart

             .____.
            Monster Hunter…
Not much of a fan of the series.
+ You can’t really compare the two

          • SetzerGabbiani

The Mario title will still be selling years after the Monster Hunter title disappears.  And who says the 3DS won’t be getting a Monster Hunter game?

          • http://tristsantithesis.tumblr.com/ Tsunayoshi Sawada

@SetzerGabbiani:disqus  monster hunter shown on NGP hardware and now on PS3 hardware essentially would show that monster hunter may not be coming to the 3DS platform so soon.@twitter-212445382:disqus If this was next year than maybe I could see it needing something to defend against the playstation successor but it makes no sense to worry about it this year considering we should be at 2mln 3DS to maybe 500K PSP successors on the market with 3DS outselling it with just Mario Kart and Super Mario, sorry. Pokemon third version is unnecessary.

They have a different target audience, so your comparison falls kind of short. While I’m not saying somebody who plays Mario Cart absolutely wouldn’t pick up Monster Hunter, it’s still highly unlikely that the presence of a new Monster Hunter game will cause Nintendo fans to flock to it, especially since there were no Monster Hunter games on the DS to begin with.

“Hardcore” PSP fans will never touch a 3DS anyway, since it’s “gimmicky” and “for kids”. Whilst equally fanatical 3DS fans would snub the PSP2 for being “more of the same” and “phat”.

The 3DS is just getting started.  You make it sound as if it’s on its deathbed or something.  It’ll do just fine without Pokemon’s immediate help.

Nice reveal. Pokemon Mystery Dungeon or just a new Pokemon game would be nice.

Cue mandatory third title jingle. Thankfully, I haven’t picked up B&W because of this very reason.
