These Nintendo DSiWare Games Won’t Transfer Over To Your Nintendo 3DS

By Ishaan . June 2, 2011 . 8:25am

Come June 6th (7th if you’re in Europe), you’ll be able transfer your Nintendo DSiWare games over to your Nintendo 3DS after downloading a firmware update. Some games and apps, however, won’t be transferable. Here’s the complete list:

  • Art Academy First Semester
  • Art Academy Second Semester
  • Asphalt IV
  • Crash-Course Domo
  • Earthworm Jim
  • Flipnote Studio
  • Hard-Hat Domo
  • Let’s Golf
  • Nintendo DSi Browser
  • Oregon Trail
  • Pinball Pulse: The Ancients Beckon
  • Pro-Putt Domo
  • Real Soccer 2009
  • Real Soccer 2010
  • Rock-n-Roll Domo
  • SUDOKU MASTER
  • SUDOKU SENSEI
  • Sudoku Student
  • White-Water Domo

Also note that, once you transfer games for your Nintendo DSi to your 3DS, you will not be able to transfer them back to your DSi.

Food for thought:

Update: Removed “Food for thought” as it made it sound like these apps wouldn’t work at all on a Nintendo 3DS, even if purchased directly on the system. This has not been confirmed.

Never even heard of most of them, so no loss there.

…Wait, since when did they have Oregon Trail on the DS?  I love Oregon Trail.  Wonder how I missed that.

    • Suicunesol

There’s an Oregon Trail for the 3DS in the works, too, I believe. Maybe that can suffice over the DS version.

    • Exkaiser

I mentioned it to you before. I even linked you to the Siliconera post.

      Cool Alzheimer’s, bro.

      • Caligula

        I’ve had a lot of Alzheimer’s moments lately :(

Too much Sims 3 playing, I guess.  Rots my brain.

When you say not transferable, do you mean we simply can’t transfer, or they’re not available at all for the 3DS? The way you phrase “It’s a little disappointing that the almost Twitter-like Flipnote Studio won’t be transferable.” leads me to believe that these titles flat out won’t be an option for 3DS owners.

    That would make me rather sad, since I wasn’t even aware Oregon Trail was available on the DSi store. ;o;

You’re right, I should probably take that out. There’s no way to tell if these apps simply won’t be transferable or won’t work at all. Thanks for pointing that out. :)

After the success of Flipnote I wonder if they’ll do one for the 3DS…. Hmm..

    • raikage

I think I read somewhere that they plan on making a Flipnote for the 3DS.

      • Zonic505

Yes, there’s going to be a 3DSWare version of Flipnote Studios.

    • ninjaonizuka

I liked it i hope they make one 10x better than the previously one :D

  • Tatsu

Any news on whether or not it’s possible to retrieve the save data from the DSi? It would be a bummer to have to start over in each game.

    • Exkaiser

DSi saves data for that to an SD card, right? You can probably just pull it off there.

    YES! I CAN TRANFER MYNOTEPAD!
