This Is The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D’s Single Orchestrated Track

Music for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D was overseen by Mahito Yokota, who was also a composer for Super Mario Galaxy 2. Recently, Yokota revealed that, while the majority of Ocarina of Time 3D’s music is meant to capture the feel of the original Nintendo 64 version’s soundtrack, there exists a single song in the 3DS version that is orchestrated.

This song has now been discovered, and if you don’t want to know where it is or listen to it, read no further. For the folks that are interested, here you go (SPOILERS):

As some of our readers suspected, the track is located in the end credits of the game. Yokota is also working on the soundtrack of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword.

  • Man… now it makes me wish they had orchestrated the entire soundtrack for the game.  Such a lost opportunity…

  • Sheesh, now I’m pretty bummed that the entire soundtrack isn’t orchestrated.

    That sounded lovely.

    • lostinblue

read the iwata asks for it, you’ll understand.

  • Sounds like SPOILERS. But I love it. Why couldn’t they have just redone the whole OST?

    • lostinblue

they kinda redid. it’s not emulating the original one, it was redone to… sound the same.

  • pokemon?

  • This is a very impressive version; I love orchestrated Zelda music. It just fits it so well. The full range of instruments just adds life sounds.

    • OneOkami

Thats the one aspect of the Twilight Princess soundtrack I found rather disappointing.

      • My gripe with the TP OST was that the greater half of it was an off-shoot of Midna’s theme.  A good theme, but heard in like 20 different ways.

  • YsyDoesIt

Hearing 1:02 makes me hate myself for knowing I’m going to pay full price for this game when they could have had multiple, toggleable sound-tracks, “preserving the spirit of the original” regardless.

  • now I’m just ticked we dont get a full orchestrated sound track!

  • Of course, it would be great if whole game would sound like this, but guys this is great. I think this is badass end, and the greatest end after epic adventure. it wouldn’t be the same if they done whole soundtrack like this(but then they could do it as 8-bit song, that would be nice too).
