Whats Nintendo President Satoru Iwata Up To?

A day before Nintendo discuss their plans for the future at their E3 2011 media presentation, Nintendo’s global president, Satoru Iwata, is busy preparing for the big event. What’s he up to?

“I’m here now at the Nokia Theatre preparing for our Nintendo presentation tomorrow,” Iwata conveyed via Nintendo of America’s Twitter account. “I hope you enjoy the show.” He mentioned soon after: “I arrived here at E3 on Saturday from Japan, so I’m still experiencing jet lag.”

If you’ve watched Nintendo’s media briefings at E3 in recent years, you’ll have noticed that Iwata chooses to speak in English on stage — and in rather good English at that. However, he still finds it difficult to deliver his speeches in a language other than Japanese.

“I’ve been making my Nintendo speech in English since 2001, but I find it’s still tough to deliver my speech not in Japanese,” Iwata relayed through NOA. “It’s not easy to prepare a smooth Nintendo presentation, but we enjoy it. Now Mr. Miyamoto is changing his script again!”

I tweeted back at him, saying if they’re still working on the script to please throw a NA release of Trace Memory R in there finally.

More 3DS games, less tablet controllers.

Also, some specifics about the next console. I’m sick of rumors, I want to know exactly what kind of CPU and GPU is in there.

    • Testsubject909

We’ll get the specs all in due time, no rush. Not as if they’ll sell out or that the launch line-up will be that strong.

      • malek86

Actually, I’m not buying the console. I just wanted to know out of curiosity. With so many rumors flying around, I wanted to see who was right (maybe nobody).

        • puchinri

Lol, that’s interesting. So you’re already decided for sure that you’re not getting it? Or just that as of now, you have zero interest in it?

          • malek86

I’ve already decided that I’m only going for one platform next gen. Buying three consoles this gen was a mistake: I ended up using them seldom. If I only get one, I will use it a lot more in comparison.

That platform is the PC (and 3DS or NGP for portable play), so no matter what Microsoft/Nintendo/Sony throw at me, I’m not getting it. Well, until maybe very late into the life cycle of the consoles.

          • puchinri

            Ah. That’s a sensible decision.

    • CleruTesh

I just hope Game Informer was wrong about it having 512 MB of RAM. Even if it is more powerful than PS3/Xbox 360, with the same amount of RAM, I doubt the improvement would be noticable.

      • YsyDoesIt

I’m hoping the same.  The mild improvement rumors mention won’t last long enough to compete with whatever Sony and Microsoft throws out in the upcoming years. Nintendo’s kind of finding themselves in the awkward Sega system release window.

  • Testsubject909

Oh Miyamoto, you so crazy with your ad lib.

  • kylehyde

Iwata please stop to tease us.

Seriously I want sleep right now, to wake up early moring, buy some coca-cola and some nachos for enjoy the conference.

  • SetzerGabbiani

The fact that he is able to deliver his speech in English with a teleprompter as a non-native speaker is a feat in itself.

    hells yes this is awesome.

  • meat0bun

Some games for my paperwei- I mean, 3DS will be much appreciated.

  • SetzerGabbiani

Final Fantasy VI remake.  That’s all the folks at Nintendo need to say to me…new system be damned.

    • http://twitter.com/Wakuseino Dustin Perrault

…Wouldn’t that be Square’s job, though?

      • SetzerGabbiani

It would, but it would be such a monumental announcement that Nintendo would want to handle the honor, especially if it’s an exclusive.

    • YsyDoesIt

It highly doubt it’ll ever happen in the reasonable future.  Squenix tends to hold their ‘port’-able or ‘re-make’ from digital download until they decide what they’re doing with it–they’re finally putting up everything digitally they didn’t bother porting recently after their recent slew of ports came out or have been out for a bit for maximum money-milking.

  • Masengan

I’m really excited to see what Nintendo has up its sleeve, I’m always looking forward to all the conferences. I love E3 =D

  • puchinri

I saw those tweets on GoNintendo. Iwata and Miyamoto are a funny pair together. And I think they’re both fun personalities separately (in different ways and for different reasons). To echo sentiments on GoNintendo, the two need to be on a sitcom together.

    • Joanna

Add Shigesato (creator of Mother) into that mix. I read that interview between him and Iwata and he also seems like a pretty fun and interesting guy. x3

      • puchinri

Oh, you’re right! I almost forgot about that! That would make it even better~. x’D

  • XypherCode

    Iwata and Miyamoto rocks! m/

  • gatotsu911

“Everybody, zis is za SREE… DEE… ESS.”
Honestly, I kind of like Iwata’s Engrish speeches. They kind of add to his underdog-ish charm.

I am getting up early tomorrow to watch the presser.

  • theworldofnoboundries

Nintendo give us more, more and more!!!!!!

  • PrinceHeir

    more games please :D

i’ll be buying PS Vita and 3DS for sure :P

  • Darkrise

  • http://twitter.com/#!/Leafy_Cam Leafhopper

Seriously. Its going to start soon and I am not going to be there for it but please along with a new console announce the 3DS lite or something to make up for that.
