The Nintendo DS still has a fair bit of life left in it, thanks to a new round of localizations announced this morning. Atlus announced Devil Survivor 2, Square Enix announced Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2, and we reported previously, the fourth Professor Layton game will be translated as well.

Professor Layton and the Last Specter is slated for release sometime this fall in the U.S.

  • Paradox me

That looks really good. I’ve been meaning to get into Layton since picking up my 3DS but keep getting sidetracked. I assume there’s no overarching storyline to the series and that I can just jump into any of the games?

    • Phoenix_Apollo

For the most part. There are characters introduced in Curious Village that you’ll be meeting a lot again through out the series, but I don’t imagine there being any trouble starting anywhere after that.

    • Westin Grube

This is the start of the prequel trilogy that takes place before the other games that have been released in America thus far, so it might be the perfect starting point. On another note, really glad that Last Specter is going to be localized, was worried that they’d skip straight to Mask of Miracle with the 3DS’s release and all.

  • Vivian Mai

More Layton and the ridiculous plot twists? YES.

Now I just have to wait for news on Layton vs. Ace Attorney….

  • Kuronoa

No Wii RPGs but at least we can count on Layton. <3

There is still time for that. Surely, Nintendo would be crazy to abandon a creation made by Sakaguchi-sama and Uematsu-sama (in reference to The Last Story).

      • kylehyde

NOE and NOJ not, but NOA, who knows.

  • AnimeRemix

Still got to pick up the other 3 Layton games… But glad this one is also coming out in America!

  • Hours

Any word on whether or not this will include the “London Life” mode? I really hope it hasn’t been cut.

  • kylehyde

Maybe the last great goodbye for one of the greatest handhelds of all time. Thanks Layton and DS for all the good memories.

    • Will Jay

      You’re forgetting Devil Survivor 2

      • kylehyde

        it doens’t matter anymore

        • Will Jay

Except this came out back over a year ago in japan already and Devil Survivor 2 doens’t come to US until next year.

If you’re going to use the US launch for one title, use the US one for the other as well.

          • kylehyde

All right my bad, but don’t be so agressive.

  • Phoenix_Apollo

This is good news. VERY good news.

  • Will Jay

    Sooooo… Who’s actually localizing this?

  • Aoshi00

argh, gotta hurry up and finish Devil’s Flute :(… That spaceship moving block puzzle in the pic took me forever and I had to resign and resort to a guide at the end :(..

  • theworldofnoboundries

    Take my MONEY!!!!!!!

  • Tommy Lee

Aw crud. I’m so excited that I’m already trying to mentally solve the puzzles in the screenshots.

  • Leonard Liwanag

so the devil’s flute was change to last specter.what does a ghost has to do on this games.?surely they want it to match up to haloween.

  • Joanna
