Silent Hill: Book of Memories To Feature Co-op Multiplayer

Konami had a bit of a Silent Hill celebration at E3 this year. They announced the Silent Hill HD Collection, showed off Silent Hill: Downpour, and also announced a new game — Silent Hill: Book of Memories for the PlayStation Vita.

Virtually nothing about Book of Memories is known at the moment, other than that it will feature the very first multiplayer experience for the series, and will include a lot of the classic creatures the series has seen so far.

Konami say that Book of Memoriesis being scored by Daniel Licht, who’s also working on Downpour. Licht is best known for his work on the Dexter TV series.

  • I wonder if this will be anything like RE:Outbreak…

  • Eck. I’m trying to wrap my brain around how this would work. In order to keep the story going, I’m assuming there’s going to have to be set characters with back stories.

And a book of memories, huh? Perhaps another recollection type game, like shattered memories?

    • Nope nope, they say it’s a completely new story. :)

  • Whoomp

Cause getting teabagged by 13 year olds while they scream “noob” with all the might their prepubescent voices can produce was exactly what the series was missing.

    • It’s co-op, not competitive.

      • Whoomp

        You’re right but seeing the steep downslope the series have been traveling I don’t feel like such a scenario is all that far fetched anymore ;_;

It is incredibly shocking that Konami seems to have no understanding -at all- of what makes Silent Hill games good.

You can’t have “Classic monsters” unless you’ve already missed the point.

Maybe the multiplayer could be interesting.
I’m not going to pass judgement on this until I see what’s it about.

  • PrinceHeir

ehhh not really my type :(

at least it worked on RE(Mercenaries not Versus mind you)

    so yeah :

  • I haven’t played any of the Silent Hill games, aside from knowing that it’s a survival horror series. Now, pardon me if I’m presuming too early, but wouldn’t having another player to cooperate with you… well, suppress the helplessness and the horror atmosphere?
