Take A Look Around Project Gravity’s World With Concept Art

By Ishaan . July 4, 2011 . 2:03pm

Want to see some conceptual art for PSVita’s Project Gravity?

Here’s some of Kat, Gravity’s protagonist, and some of the areas in the game. Project Gravity begins in a town called Hexaville, and when Kat wakes up there, she has amnesia. When she’s around this one black cat — you can see it next to her in the pic to the right — she finds that she can manipulate gravity.

There are plans to allow players to customize Kat’s stats in the game, with five to ten stats being considered at present. An ability system is also part of the plan, but the development were still sorting out how players would unlock new skills at E3. Interestingly, Project Gravity is superhero-themed in a sense. Not everyone loves Kat or sees her as a hero.

A big thanks to Ludy for the awesome tip!

  • I really like her look. The more I see of this game the more I want it.

  • DanteJones

I’m loving the art for this game so far, can’t wait to read more details about it later when it gets closer to launch.

Also: did anyone else immediately think of Ghost Trick after reading this? I know I did. XD

  • Yu_TheKing

The artworks of Kat are adorable. *-* Definitely loving the design and the medieval/gothic feel of the towns.

    • I can’t wait to explore those environments fully, upside down and everything. I feel like the little details of video game settings are the most underrated or most unnoticed part of a game.

      • If there are multiple gravity tricks to spice up the exploration, it just might leave Spider-Man and Cole MacGrath in shame.

        • Yu_TheKing

Gravity seems like its gonna add a whole new depth of exploration for the Heroine. I know it going to be an awesome game.

  • Amazing!

I’m really waiting for this game. Project Gravity and Sound Shapes makes me believe about all the things the Vita can and will do.

  • DarkWaterClone

I so enjoy finding out more info on this game. It is the one game I really want for the Vita. Uncharted might look good & I know it will play good. But this is a new IP & look truly refreshing. So I hope Sony will start pushing this game more as the one Vita game you need to own.

I also hope Sony will push for more of these full blown new IPs for the Vita. Sony has shown some new ones but so far this is the only one that I want. Because for me new IPs are better then sequels. Maybe if this does well Sony might look into other cool concepts. Like bringing out a Cyberpunk game. Maybe some thing like a cross of Shadowrun & Blade Runner.

  • AnimusVox

She looks a little cross eyed

    • IceRomancer

      Still pretty hot though! :3

  • badmoogle

Any idea who is/are the artist/s behind the artwork?

    • Currently-unnamed staff at SCE Japan Studio.

Guess you’ll learn their names when you watch the credits after the game?

      • badmoogle

“Currently-unnamed staff at SCE Japan Studio.”

Well i wouldn’t be so sure. These days more and more developers outsource their pre-production artwork to art-focused studios which sometimes are based in other countries.

  • Shinji Kazuya

So Playstation Vita / PS Vita doesn’t sound weird anymore! It did back at E3, people were even saying that it sounded like a medicine.
Now it sounds cool. PS VITA!!!
I know I’m not the only one! :3

  • absolutely astonishing is all that I can say!

  • karasuKumo

THWAR!! Lovely, would even go as far as to say the concept art looks better than the game!

  • Kuza21

    Loving it.

  • imaguni

I love all of it, the artwork with sideways!Kat is definitely my favorite though!

  • Mister_Nep

    She looks so pretty <3

  • exhume

    Aaaand sold!

  • puchinri

I love the art style (very rounded and soft~), and the character’s general design is nice, but all the gold, spiral-y stuff feels a tad excessive (and I keep thinking Xena for some reason). And is it just me, or does it seem like skintone is a little… Odd? Off? (I’m wondering if it’s intentional?)

  • z_merquise

The one artwork with Kat standing on a building (sideways) while viewing the city somehow gives me a super-hero feel to it and it looks cool.

And that one picture with Kat smiling looks cute. Can be used as a good avatar, eh?

  • AzureNova

There are no words to describe how much I love Kat.

    • Shinji Kazuya

I don’t have enough words to describe your profile picture! O:
Awsome just doesn’t cut it! :3

      • AzureNova

        Rofl, thnx Shinji ^_^

  • nice art! i hope i see some great pictures of here soon. whats her personality like?

  • ShinGundam

Me happy, we need more JP titles from Sony just like PS1 era.

  • Wow. Looks wonderful!

  • this game is one my reason to get psvita wend its comes out

    • It’s the main reason I’m buying it day one. That, and the amazing price.

  • punkchobit

I love games that have a female lead that isnt being used sexually to sell a game. It usually means the developers feel they can actually sell the game on their own merits.

I’ve been right about Gurumin, Parasite Eve (1), Beyond good and Evil, Eternal Sonata, Jeanne d’Arc

    • Her sex appeal is at least emphasized a bit.

I mean you can’t just ignore her outfit and how it accentuates the chest area.

      • thebanditking

Depends on what her age is,but this game is not over doing it by todays standards, rather I think she is supposed to look mystical rather then “sexy”. That said I am growing tired of Japan’s increasing fascination with underage girls in skimpy clothes (its gross).

      • punkchobit

true, but at least it covers and she has breasts that arent big enough to be
the cause of her gravity powers/issues

  • Cool, but I *really* don’t want this to become a Japanese version of inFamous.

Goddamn do I love inFamous but the game has some fundamental flaws in the morality system and I don’t want the same problem spoiling new games.

    • The gameplay in Project Gravity is totally different from inFamous. There’s been no indication of a morality system either. The comment, if you’re referring to our interview, was about how people react to Kat, they’re unsure if she’s trouble or not.

  • Hell yes! keep posting these.

  • Ravage27

This game was the first among the lineup to catch my eye during Vita’s first reveal.

  • That artwork is simply stunning – as if I wasn’t already sold on the game enough! I really do hope that they release an artbook for this game since I’m sure I’m not the only one who would be tempted by it.

    • thebanditking

      Did someone say artbook?
