Ico and Shadow of the Colossus Collection on the PlayStation 3’s biggest feature is that the framerate in the latter game is now a whole lot smoother. It may not be all that apparent in the video below, but here you go anyway:

Ico:

Shadow of the Colossus:

North America gets Ico and Shadow of the Colossus Collection on September 27th. While the two games will be sold as a double-pack in the U.S., Japan will be able to buy them separately…unless, of course, you ordered the Japanese Limited Edition Box.

Beautiful, I’m glad that Team ICO took a little longer to get this collection out. Re-doing some textures and stuff really helps this collection stand out and not seem like some other collections that you can tell are being rushed out untouched.

Absolutely stunning!! The graphics are really beautiful just to even look at. Now I’m mad, because I never got my chance to even play them.

Regardless, I really cannot to play this when it comes stateside.

I was just thinking: “I hope this come to Europe!”
Then I go to Amazon UK and there it is! September 30 and so cheap!
Never played the original ones so there’s no way I’m gonna let this chance slip.
Man!!! We gamers are gonna be damn busy this year and on the next one as well!
An avalanche of awsome and epic games! :3

Yup.It was around 28£…best value for money considering the high quality of those games.I pre-ordered it some time ago.

I don’t know why people complain about the framerate in the first place. The game played smoothly from start to finish. The only time it slowed down, for me, was when I got smacked by a Colossus. And you know what? YOU CAN’T MOVE DURING THOSE PARTS SO WHAT’S THE POINT OF COMPLAINING!

Blarg. That’s enough out of me.

Umm, i felt while running on the horse the game had a bit of framerate problems tho, not a big deal, but if it can get better… I welcome thou!

Like what WildArms is mentioning.  At times, the framerate drop is noticeable when riding on Agro.  It was an annoyance because you knew you weren’t going as fast as you were supposed to, and hitting x again did nothing to remedy that.

The only time the game was smooth, was when you were zooming on the ground. Everything else felt like playing a N64 shooter, you know, the kind that you could only call smooth after you eventually got used to it.

On a side note, I totally need to play it with 480p now that I have Component cables. I wonder if it will make a difference.

    • badmoogle

I agree.90% of the game the framerate was smooth for me as well.Maybe they worked a bit more on the European version?(i have the European one)

I definitely think that Shadow of the Colossus looks a lot smoother. Can’t wait for this to be released. I’ve had a pre-order on this since it was announced. Haha!

Also, fun story I thought I’d share: A guy came into the store where I work looking for some PS2 games a couple of weeks ago. We started talking about Shadow of the Colossus and then he asked me if I knew the name of another game made by the same team. He remembered playing it and how awesome it was and so on. I told him it was called Ico and that it would be coming out on the PS3 with Shadow of the Colossus in HD. At that moment, he abandoned his search and resolved to buy a PS3 when the game bundle gets released.

I think that this guy’s desire to play these games is a testament to how great they are.

Day freaking one buy. Shadow of the Colossus is one of the best games ever and this could improve the framerate issues the game had plus I can finally play ICO.:D

Im SOOOOO gonna get this, and with the biggest smile in the face of the world Mwahahahaha!

  • Draparde

After having seen the game played through like 5 or 6 times i can tell the frame rate change for sure! lol.

  • PrinceHeir

    another amazing collection :D

    cannot wait for this ^^

  • Dal. Bratt

Wow, very excited about this, especially Ico, since I haven’t played it officially, I’ve only ever played the demo when it came out back in like.. 01? It was amazing, yet I never ended up picking up the game. I’ve played SOC and love the crap out of that game, so I’ll be happy to play it again.

Stunning. Absolutely stunning! I loved virtually everything about Shadow of Colossus and this just fantastic!

Framerate is the most important aspect of a game’s performance for me, but with these games, its inconsistency never interfered with my enjoyment. Even so, I am very happy to see these games remastered with a smoother framerate. I can’t say enough about how wonderful these games are, and I am happy that people who missed out will get a chance to play them. They look beautiful, and, more importantly, they feel beautiful. There’s so much to the experience of these games.

I loved playing Ico. Shadow of the Colossus, however, is a different matter. Killing innocent monsters who did nothing to me was beyond me.
