UnchainBlades ReXX Differences Between PSP And 3DS Appear To Be Minor

By Spencer . July 5, 2011 . 4:18pm

You may have heard staff from Grandia and Lunar plus a ton of manga artists are collaborating on a dungeon RPG called UnchainBlades ReXX. Publisher Furyu plan to release the game on PSP and Nintendo 3DS.

The official site was updated with a little tab that shows the difference between the two versions. On PSP you can toggle a map overlay to show up on the center of the screen or as a mini-map. The Nintendo 3DS version has the map on the bottom screen. Otherwise the two releases are the same.

UnchainBlades ReXX comes out on July 14 in Japan. So far, the dungeon crawler has not been announced for North America.

  • I thought for sure someone in the US would pick it up. 3DS needs more RPGs right now and this one looks mighty good.

    • SolidusSnake

Yeah, it looks really cool. Hopefully someone will pick it up later on. I don’t own a 3DS but games like this are excellent reasons to invest in one.

    • Ladius

Unchain isn’t even out in Japan, I think it has a fair chance to be announced later this year since many niche publishers will probably want to start building a 3DS lineup.

Both Atlus USA and XSeed have published Wizardry-style dungeon crawlers recently (well, in Atlus’ case we must go back to last year’s Etrian Odyssey 3), after all.

      • MPHavoc

An Xseed employee(who’s also a moderator) mentioned on their forums that they do have an interest in bringing Unchained Blades ReXX to the States.

        So yeah, there’s hope.

        • Thank the goddess, never too early to start.

        • Ladius

XSeed gets cooler by the day :D

  • I’m still holding on a small bit of hope that this game will make it to North America. There aren’t many games for 3DS at this point so hopefully this will get localized so my 3DS gets some use since it’s just siting there with nothing to play lol.

    • Then don’t buy it and support nintendos crappy behaviour they show especially in the US.
Why do people always need to buy every console day 1 even if they know that there are no decent games out.

  • Lord Highawesomeparty

Looks like an interesting game. Due to both the PSP and 3DS markets being so crappy here right now (for lack of a better word) it probably won’t make it. I guess I’ll have to import it.

    • Guess you will be only be able to import the psp vers since 3ds is region locked

      • Lord Highawesomeparty

Yeah, that’s my least favorite part about the 3DS. I don’t do a lot with my 3DS anyway. I use my PlayStation platforms for all my JRPGs in the first place so it won’t be a big deal for me. Sucks for those who prefer to play Nintendo platforms.

  • Shinji Kazuya

Looks like a really nice game.
Hoping it will make it’s way over to Europe.

  • xXDGFXx

    so… many…. CGs… i want it!!!!

  • XypherCode

so many games…so little time (and money) :P

    • Mister_Nep

You wouldn’t happen to know about Interactive Distractions do you?

      • XypherCode

lol yeah i kinda know ’em. but i didn’t base my comment on that xD

        • Mister_Nep

Oh ok. I just thought the coincidence was too great.

  • Ah, the minimap is kinda distracting on the PSP. Is it possible just to hide the whole thing all together, and then whip it out whenever you need it?

    • Suicunesol

      The article says it’s toggleable.

      • Wasn’t that referring to how it can hang to the side as a mini-map or in the middle? It didn’t say anything about hiding it entirely.

Unless that’s a given. :/ Which I guess would make sense.

  • puchinri

Today I was just thinking I would love another Wiiware (or Wii or WiiU) title from GameArts, and I totally and completely forgot that they were involved in this. Now I want it even more.

  • Game looks fantastic to me, I’m really hoping for XSEED to grab this one at least for a 3DS release.

  • Draparde

I’d love to see this game make it to the US

  • Phoenix_Apollo

This would probably be a good pick up for Aksys or XSeed. Though both of their schedules seem so busy, I almost can’t imagine how this would even be possible for them.

At least it’s multiplat, so the PSP version might not be seen as that much of a risk compared to a PSP exclusive.

  • AzureNova

    15 seconds of awesome.

  • Guest

Why dont you guys go this nuts for the Eliminage and Wizardry and Class of Heroes games. also Legend of Legendary Heroes

    • blah blah

Because it was made by Grandia and Lunar people?

    • Locklear93

I can’t speak for Eliminage, but as for Wizardry and Class of Heroes… I got Class of Heroes when it came out for PSP here.  I really wanted to like it, but simply couldn’t.  Same with Wizardry, the PS3 version that was just released in the US.  Bought it, tried it, don’t like it.

  • TenRX

Probably we don’t see it here. But that doesn’t stop people to begging for it (like the games of Operation Rainfall). lol

    • With only 2520 [twitter] supporters I dont see OpRainfall doing too well…

  • 3DS version probably the better bet for localization due to the handheld being young.  Plus I prefer maps on the second screen so that would of been the version I would want anyways.

    • godmars

I’ll take that and raise you an Atlus or NIS for the PSP/NGP version.

  • xflame10

I……….i need a job. (for the record I am in high school not a 30 year old living in his parent’s basement)
