Batman: Arkham City Collector’s Edition Comes With A Statue Made By Kotobukiya

By Ishaan . July 19, 2011 . 8:40am

Like its predecessor, Batman: Arkham City is being graced with a pretty grand collector’s edition release. No Batarang or behind-the-scenes DVD this time, though. Here’s what you’ll find inside:

The most prominent collectible is the statue. That’s produced by Kotobukiya. Along with that, you get an art book and early access to the Iceberg Lounge Challenge Map and Batman: The Dark Knight Returns skin. There’s also the animated Batman: Gotham Knight DVD.

Finally, you’ll also get the game’s soundtrack, available via digital redemption. That’s a fairly grand package indeed, and so is the price; Gamestop list it for $99. It’ll release on the same day as the regular edition of the game — October 18th in the U.S., and October 21st in the U.K.

I know there are some who dislikes Gamestop but you can put a minimum of 5 on the CE of it before they jack it to 10. At least it is way better than its predecessor CE version. Can’t wait for it this fall where you can play as both Catwoman and Batman.

I dislike Gamestop, and use Amazon almost exclusively now. Better prices, release date delivery, pre-order bonuses, and great customer service should the need arise.  Why do people go to Gamestop again?

      • Exkaiser

People like picking up games in person. Even if the experience really isn’t that great, it’s important to people.

        Simple, but true.

I’m with you on sticking mostly to Amazon for buying new games, though. They’re legit, and college students get free two-day shipping (for a year), which is extra handy but results in more wallet damage than savings.

        • Wackoramaco87

Isn’t it free two-day shipping? And fun fact- after your done with your free year, you get Prime for half the price for the next 3 years, iirc.

And agreed with the others- GameStop and their employees tend to be unique, in a non-endearing sort of way.

          • Exkaiser

Oh, yeah, two-day shipping, my bad. Got it crossed with the day-one prime shipping you sometimes get with preorders.

I didn’t know about the half-price prime, though, that’s not a bad deal.

It’s a good place to pick up used PS2 games that you can’t easily find online. I also go with amazon for new games these days, though.

      • http://twitter.com/VietKnight Alexander Le

I just choose whoever is convenient who was what preorder bonus or if I can pay partial and bit by bit before release date or after. I wonder when Amazon will have the CE in their listing.

      • puchinri

I use Gamestop because each of the Gamestops in my area actually have nice employees that are into the same stuff as me (for the most part) and they tend to get games that would otherwise cost me $20+ on Amazon. For just a disc.

But I can see how some people are better off with just Amazon or some other alternative.

better than that crap edition from the first game. kotobukiya makes excellent figurines as well. def worth it this time.

    • http://twitter.com/reson8er Dan Knowles

Agreed, that statue made me actually consider this CE, no small feat :)

  • Yukito

Kotobukiya is the company I get most of my figurines from. I have alot of Key related ones by them. I have the 5 Clannad girls, their three Kanon girls, and a few Little Buster girls by them. I like their stuff.

    • Exkaiser

I don’t buy figurines, but I do buy most of my model kits from them.

They’ve always got great sculpts on both their kits and figures.

  • SolidusSnake

“Art book and Kotobukiya-produced statue, anyone?”

    Yes, please.

Without my glasses that looked like a sexy Batgirl statue…

    • thebanditking

Kotobukiya already got that well covered with their bishojo batgirl from a few months back.

  • Soma

Awesome! So glad that I pre-ordered this right away. That Kotobukiya statue is going to look great sitting next to my other Batman statue.
October can’t come soon enough! This may just be my most anticipated game this fall.

  • thebanditking

All these $100 collectors editions are begining to grate on my nerves and wallet but getting kotobukiya to do the statue is a really good idea, as too many of these come with very cheesy looking sculpts. I will have to see this for my self first but I am confident that koto will do a good job.
