Lollipop Chainsaw’s Lead Is A Chainsaw-Wielding Cheerleader Who Likes Pink

By Ishaan . July 20, 2011 . 9:00am

Last night, Grasshopper Manufacture officially announced Lollipop Chainsaw via Famitsu magazine. Today, the Famitsu website has a few screenshots up for viewing.

In Lollipop Chainsaw, you play as Juliet Sterling, a student at San Romero High. Juliet’s a cheerleader. She’s also the descendent of a family of zombie hunters. On her 18th birthday, a bunch of zombies show up at her school. Whoops.

As you’d expect, Juliet uses a chainsaw to do her zombie-hunting, but being a cheerleader, she’s also got some far-ranging kicks and the like. By fulfilling certain unspecified conditions, you’ll be able to power her chainsaw up as well. Oh, and Juliet’s favourite colour is pink.

    On her 18th birthday
How convenient! Looks promising, I want to see video.

      Julie the Zombie Slayer

    • DaFool Visualnews

Yeah its for players like me who like to keep the right analog stick pushed all the way down and not have to feel guilty about it.

  • hadjimurad

    this is fun. i’m in.

  • RagnaXBL

    Well i’m interested

  • MrSirFeatherFang

Looks cel-shaded, I would like more of these. (And if anyone knows anymore I would like to know :3)

    • Thomas Maloney

      Play No More Heroes, then.

  • AzureNova

This is gonna be fun! Pink has never looked so good lol.

  • Barrit

Looks awesome so far! I was thinking she’d be pretty awesome with Bad Girls personality, but that wouldn’t really fit well with the cheerleader aspect.

  • SolidusSnake

    Yay pig tails FTW

  • Lich King

We have waaaaayyyy too many zombie games this generation…..Why not come up with something new? ><…

    • This is new, are you blind?

      • DaFool Visualnews

This will be my first zombie game I buy.

What’s needed are more cheerleading games, starring, er… cheerleaders.

  • YoungTeeth

This games needs a girly/harajuku inspired j-pop soundtrack!!!! Kyary Pamyu Pamyu plzplzplzplz.

  • Thomas Maloney

Lollipop Chainsaw = No More Heroes 2.5

    ….I’m okay with this :D

  • Barrylocke89

She kinda reminds me of Clover from 999.

  • Draculoid

Definitely agree with Thomas Maloney on his NMH 2.5 comment :P Need to see the game in motion still but it looks pretty bad ass to me with nice flashy effects.

  • It’s gonna be funnier to me if this game turns out to be a TAKE THAT on your ho-hum traditional zombie game, since the main char’s color of choice is bright for this game’s traditional setting.

    • puchinri

It does kind of feel like that so far, doesn’t it~?

  • Draculoid

Oh and she carries around a dudes head on a string which appears still alive? I wonder what the explanation for that is…and veeeery Shadows of the Damned esque…..

  • Guest

    No thong?

    : /

    • puchinri

      That would just be tacky.
And I doubt any cheerleader in her right mind would forget her spankies, especially if she was wearing a thong. But that might work with other outfits.
But I would only want her to have a thong if we get a game with Travis in a thong first. And maybe throw in Garcia for the hell of it.

      • Guest

Absolutely not. No man should ever wear a thong

        • puchinri

…I suppose I won’t reveal the truth to you then. But lets face it, some guys are hot enough and manly enough to make it the best thing ever (and much sexier than when a girl wears one, when it just looks gross, lol).

          • Guest

          • puchinri

Lol, it could be the best thing ever (and you say it like there wouldn’t be hair is a woman wore a thong, but for some people, that’s the best part anyway).

And believe me, it’s not “eww” for everyone~. ♥

  • jello44

So a chick with pigtails who is a cheerleader with thighhighs kills zombies with a chainsaw.

    I’m sold.

  • It’s like cheerleader, Suda51, Zombie Killing, Buffy.

  • Okay, now I need a third towel.

  • One of the most promising games I’ve read about, only topped by Senran Kagura and Queens Gate~

  • 1st day buy…Her style reminds me of Bad Girl mixed with Bayonetta ^_^

    • AnimusVox

I immediatley thought ‘Bad Girl’ when I saw her too.

  • Well give me this game and lets go paint the virtual town red.

  • Code

rar, approved >w<~! It's looking really sharp too owo; Definitely going to watch this one much closer now!

  • LezardValeth

Suda51 has got to currently be my favorite dev….honestly No More Heroes was some of the most fun I’ve had gaming, and it wasn’t just the gameplay that made it fun, it’s the whole concept. Senseless/comical massacre has always been too fun, I think Suda definitely found himself a solid fanbase in the No More Heroes-esque games of his, glad to see he’s expanding on it. Definitely excited for this, seeing this made my day, hopefully plans are already underway for an overseas release otherwise this is definitely something I will have to import.

  • HarryHodd

Off the wall stuff like this is why I like gaming. I like the possibilities that I see in this as far as gameplay goes.

  • Darkrise

  • Aiddon

    Well, count me interested.

  • puchinri

Suda must really have a thing for blondes. Or at least, women. Because his guys tend to have dark hair. (Interesting way those preferences go.)

I don’t know if I like how her pigtails look, but I do like her overall design~.

Maybe they can add extra outfits, and you change by going to your gym locker or something?

    • He again doesn’t have the artistic and story lead so who knows if thats true..

      • puchinri

I don’t know, if he’s on the project, I just make connections, lol. I wouldn’t be surprised either way. (Although, did they say who are the artistic and story leads already?)

  • PrinceHeir

    love the artsyle O___O

and yes this reminds me of Oneechanbara.

i wonder if he’ll add a No More Heroes flavor to it :P

Day 1 for sure(still need to get Shadows of the Damned)

sadly i’ll have to wait for awhile for the next mikami and suda 51, akira yamaoka game.

    Killer 7 style please

    • LezardValeth

      • Guest

Hey, the Oneechanbara series is amazing.

  • Bakuryukun

hahahaha this sounds amazing and fun.

  • I like Suda’s style. I wish he would create a game with a really interesting story though, I’m sure he could think of something whack.

  • Ben Tan

this game will surely sell more than shadows of  the damned, just cause no mexicans to piss off republicans…yet

  • z_merquise

As what I read in Andriasang, Suda 51 is, again, acting as Creative Director of the game and someone else at Grasshopper would handle the director and game design duties. While Akira Yamaoka would handle the sound duties (it wasn’t specified if that means composing the music but that was very likely).

Here’s hoping we can get loads of details (especially a trailer) on or before TGS.

  • Lordphantomhive

Count me in. Just as long it isn’t as rough as NMH and also be even more fun and crazy. Wonder if that head that she has connected to her belt is her boyfriend?

  • ……………….I honestly am at a lost for words on how to describe my feelings towards this game.

  • Zenkito

*_* This looks interesting….from a prevy point of view. Oh yeah, killing zombies is always fun too :D

  • Juuu

So a teenage version of Bad Girl [just with a chainsaw, not a bat] goes on a zombie-killing spree reminiscent of Oneechanbara set to a Yamaoka soundtrack?

Count me in. and PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE make the theme song a remix of “Lollipop” [Chordette’s version, perhaps?] sung by Mary E. McGlynn.

  • I’m glad to see more people saw Julia as Bad Girl right away ahaha.

Also, Pink blood reminds me of Danganronpa~
