Keiji Inafune’s Next Game Is The Island of Dr. Momo

Last month, Keiji Inafune revealed to Bloomberg that he’d be releasing a social game for the Japanese market sometime soon. Today, it was announced that his next game is a mobile phone title for the GREE service.

This game is titled The Island of Dr. Momo, developed by his new company, Comcept, in partnership with Index Holdings, which is Atlus’ parent company. It’s planned for release on both iOS and Android phones this autumn in Japan.

The game is about Dr. Momo, who’s described as a mad scientist with a love for cute things. She’s trying to create the cutest thing in the world by collecting and combining a variety of animals together. It’s a social game and will be free-to-play, with users paying to buy in-game items.

I don’t know about this but,I heard that if you want to live don’t ever try to mix animals together. It’s not a good idea.

It’s really not.  So tough to fit them in the blender, with all the wiggling.

    ….sounds like Rena

Doesn’t sound like leaps and bounds above what he did at his former job…

Yup, that definitely sounds like a good-old Japanese video game plot. I love you for your sense of humor, Japan. ^w^

  • Momo was also the name of that cute scientist in Breath of Fire III.

  • The name of this game is genius. Horrifying too, of course, but also genius.

  • OH MY GAWD. I love combining animals to make them the most adorable thing ever. This is like my dream job~!

I need to do lunch with Dr. Momo.

So it’s an autobiographical piece then?  He changed the gender of the main character to try and fool us.

The premise and even the title itself sounds an awful lot like The Island of Dr. Moreau.  I wonder how much influence it will draw from that story.

  • Even though he has said some controversial things that pissed me off, I support you Inafune. The game sounds interesting.
