It’s been a while since Shimamoto Sumi voice a major char (she’s the narrator in the trailer and Nausicaa from Valley of the Wind/Kyoko from Maison Ikkoku).. Not sure if the headphone or OST are worth it, so I pre-ordered the regular ver for PS3… not getting Ever 17 though…  I hope the story is as intriguing as Steins;Gate..

Are you kidding? Grab Ever 17 as well! You don’t know what you’re missing. Don’t believe me? Ask around. I’ve played Ever 17 about 7-8 years ago and I still like it enough to replay it occasionally.

Where can I get ever17 now? (in english i mean..)

        • Ladius

E17 was localized years ago by Hirameki, nowadays it’s quite rare to find a copy and they can be extremely pricey on Ebay.

E17 is a great novel, but it’s also kinda overrated since for many years it was one of the few good vns localized in English. The true ending is absolutely awesome, but the paths you need to play to get to it are really, really slow, repetitive and sometimes boring in terms of pacing, not to mention the lackluster localization.

All in all it’s a really rewarding experience (and I reccomend it too, don’t get me wrong), but it has some definite flaws that usually go unmentioned. It’s no surprise that developing the remake of E17 one of the first concern was apparently to improve the “filler” scenes in order to make the game’s flow smmother, and if they are able to do that the E17 remake could really be awesome.

I’ve heard lots of good things for Ever17 and I do like the composer who did the music for Steins;Gate.  But the new 3D graphics look kinda bad and I’m not very big on the trapped in a facility scenario.. I have too many unfinished games (like Xenoblade & Pandora’s Tower, haven’t even finished Steins;Gate Hiyoku Renri no Darlin yet and now Dunamis), might wait for reviews to see if I’m getting Ever17.

        • Ladius

I agree with you regarding the 3d models, they’re awkward and I think they are a really cheap way to remake a classic such as E17. That said, the vn itself is really good and the X360 remake should improve some of the pacing problems of the original game.

          • Aoshi00

It’s too bad the new 3D models in the remake are so cheap looking.. since the art plays a big part in a VN’s aesthetics… I’m waiting for reviews on this one, if people say it’s good then I’d get it eventually or wait till it’s on sale or something.. I wonder if the Dunamis headphone and CDs are worth it, the LE are so expensive *.*… and w/ the US$ getting weaker by the day ($1 = 75 yen now, nuts!), importing is hell.. Oh, I’m excited about Instant Brain too, the art is absolutely gorgeous :)

5pb is doing so much for the visual novel genre it’s almost crazy XD I really hope Dunamis 15 can live up to their expectations, and since it’s a multiplatform game it could be an interesting release candidate for daring companies like Aksys.
