Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva Will Sing In North America This Year

By Ishaan . August 8, 2011 . 4:01pm

Professor Layton will be making two appearances in English this year. The first will be in Professor Layton and the Last Specter on Nintendo DS, and the second will be in the Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva movie, which is out in November.

Eternal Diva centres around an opera house where Janice Quatlane, one of the professor’s old students, will be performing. Mysterious disappearances in London appear to be connected to the opera house in some way, and Layton and Luke set about trying to solve the mystery.

Viz will be releasing Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva on DVD and Blu-ray on November 8th in North America.

Nice. Was worried I was going to need to take the brit amazon route.

  • Thats a glorious month for Viz. One Piece Color Walk 2! I so can not wait and if I recall Naruto Shippuden Movie 2 Bonds, I heard it has NaruSasu action, so I must get immediately, movie 1 was pretty awesome (when Naruto had his hair wet and it shimmered, and the action and intensity). OH and wait, I also think that means Bleach Movie 3 Fade to Black as well! And hopefully more Bakuman manga, a volume 1 of Psyren, Naruto, Bleach, Tegami Bachi, Ultimo and Toriko. Nice to see Viz going into more Blu-Rays. My first from them was the Death Note Live Action movies, which were stunning dubbed, Light Yagami was so cool!

A lot of times movies for long running shows end up being really underwhelming to me. That being said Bleach movie 3 has peaked my interest. Hope it’s not just the trailer that shows the good parts.

I just want to remind people that sales of the two Professor Layton projects this year will absolutely influence localization of Phoenix vs. Layton.  Many people voted to have that localized in a Facebook poll Level 5 ran.  Now you must also vote with your dollar.

I don’t think Layton needs much help, unlike say, Tales or some other niche series. It should sell just fine.

      • Agreed. I’m quite positive that Layton games sell very well as it is.

      • True, the first two games have sold a million in the US according to Nintendo.

  • I hope Layton and Luke have their same voice actors from the games.

    I definitely want this!

I thought the movie’s story and drawing was alright, but I’ll definitely collect this on blu-ray w/ the Eng dub as well, hope it’s the same actors from the games like you said, I love those voices :) In the Jpn ver. it’s the same actors of course, Ooizumu Yoh and Horikita Maki as Layton and Luke..

I remember getting this a while ago on my pc and my VLC player had an English and Japanese audio track on it, from what I remember they are the same voices as they are in the games :P

Enjoy it, you lot, it’s a fantastic movie. Here’s hoping it’s done well enough for a second (though judging by how the box proudly trumpets that it’s the FIRST movie, odds are they’re planning a second already) one, Professor Layton as a movie just works.

  • KyoyaHibari

…This movie comes out pretty steadily and quickly, and on Blu-Ray no less, but Viz hasn’t even started a Cross Game or Nura dub yet…plus we need more Monster DVDs, Inuyasha TFA & more Gintama volumes ~.~

    • We do not need more Inuyasha.

      • KyoyaHibari

        >.> lolwut? Viz needs to wrap up Inuyasha by releasing a dub for the Final Act, Inuyasha was a classic, I’m glad it got the ending that it deserved, now we just need it dubbed.

  • “Quatlane”? Shouldn’t that be “Quatrain,” like the format of Nostradamus’ prophecies?

Two month ago, I saw the movie with English subs. It’s a pretty good movie even if you don’t like Hershel Layton.

  • xXDGFXx

i bought a chinese copy that included the english subs. it was great, but those that saw near the end, you’re going to have “wtf, how did that happen? when?” moment.

  • I’ve seen the movie and it is simply amazing. It has everything that fans of the series want and love. I recommend full heartedly:)
