Party Up With The First Heroes of Ruin Trailer

By Ishaan . August 12, 2011 . 12:04pm

A fair while after its original announcement months ago, Square Enix released the first actual trailer for Heroes of Ruin today. You can watch it above, courtesy of CVG.

To encourage you to play with other players online, Heroes of Ruin has a friendship leveling system. The game keeps track of which other players you play with frequently, and builds up your friendship metre with them, the more you play together. A higher level of friendship means more perks while playing with them.

Kinda bland looking.  I’ll still probably buy it though because I’m a sucker for anything with even a hint of RPG elements in it.

Gameplay seems, I’m not sure what’s the correct description, laggy. Slow sword swinging, gliding not running… Could do with a few tweaks to make it appear more polished.

First dungeoneering handheld game I played was Children of Mana (loved the Secret of Mana series), and I found that bland. Second one I attempted was Phantasy Star 0, and from the two data points I concluded that I’m not a fan of this kind of gameplay at all.

Anyway, what prompted this point was my intent to convey that if you haven’t played the Secret of Mana series yet, you should. Old school happiness.

My only response to that is: Diablo

Well, Heroes of Ruin has a touch of Diablo to it.

I know that this might seem a bit off topic, but it’s something that randomly popped into my head at the end of the trailer…

Does anyone else think of the Intel jingle when they hear the DS “ding”?

This was something I’ve always wanted on the DS, I’m hoping it’s good.
