Square Enix Launch Free Digital Games Magazine

By Ishaan . August 13, 2011 . 3:01pm

Square Enix have put together a free digital magazine about their upcoming games. You can find the first issue at this link, either to read online or to download as a PDF file.

Included in the first issue are interviews with Final Fantasy XIV producer, Naoki Yoshida, Crystal Dynamics’ Karl Stewart, and information on Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Final Fantasy XIII-2 and advertisements for figurines.

It’s an interesting experiment for Square, and a nice way to get caught up on the basics of all these games.

I just got finished reading through it. Its got me pumped for Deux ex HR, Tomb Raider, and final fantasy XIII-2. I dont really care for hitman though. If They start releasing something like this every month I’ll be hooked.

    amazing square :)

Deus Ex Huma Revolution Cover art is godly O____O

thanks square for the free issue :P

    now more please :)

Free? Square Enix? I thought the end of SE generosity was the free Type-0 demo. XD But awesome and thanks SE, looking forward to FFXIII-2 especially.

I for one, am happy about this. I’ve always been supporting Square-Enix because I know if they did something incredibly stupid, they’ll quickly and severely address that problem with flying colours. I actually like Final Fantasy XIII (though it does has a lot problems, linearity being the least of my concern) and XIV will become a better game at time it’s current producer being competent at his job.

Considering it is just their games I wonder how they will keep variety each issue until the games come out.  I’m hoping they touch upon Taito stuff or make articles to older games as well.

Make it monthly or every other month, considering their monthly newlestters do have content it shouldnt be difficult.

Cool example from SE. I wonder if companies like ATLUS and the others will make something like this hmm

If these continue, I’m half-expecting a paid swimsuit issue.

    Fun idea nonetheless.

  • Cuticle

You mean they’re not charging for a collection of advertisements?! Is there any end to their generosity?!!

    • Exkaiser

      Hey.

Nintendo charges for their bundle of propaganda. That makes it the industry standard!

      • mikanko

But when that bundle of propaganda comes with a free copy of Dragon Warrior, with a small tip guide for Dragon Warrior 2 to come with your first issue, is it really a contest which is the better deal!?!

        • Exkaiser

If only Dragon Warrior for everyone was also the industry standard!

  • badmoogle

Damn that Akihiko Yoshida XIV artwork is amazing!

Niice, i just hope one thing being announced in that magazine: MOAR 012 DLC GODDAMN IT! D:

  • Exkaiser

Oh, interesting, the Deus Ex HR ad seems to confirm that the Augmented Edition will include both of the preorder bonus packs.

I know it was already confirmed for the PAL version, but this is good news.

@TaitoCorp I hope the general public outsider of Japan would get to know more how Taito is doing, via the Square Enix’s Free Digital Games Magazine.

    very interesting.

  • mor13ty

I hope for more and more interviews in this magazine, for me is the most interesting

Final Fantasy V and VI must be close to coming to the PSN, judging from the “Digital Community” page. Probably just the PS1 versions, but I’d love it if they fixed up the translation and the slow down issues.
