Take A Tour Through The World Of Journey In A New Trailer

By Ishaan . August 16, 2011 . 4:35pm

Journey for PlayStation 3 is something we haven’t mentioned in a while. Sony released a new trailer for the game at Gamescom today:

Journey shares an indirect connection with Ico. The game was inspired by the art of Giorgio de Chirico, whose art was what inspired Ico’s Japanese cover. In Journey, you don’t fight. Instead, you just explore, with or without other players by your side.

Journey is planned for release on the PlayStation Network sometime this year. It’s being developed by thatgamecompany, the team that created Fl0w and Fl0wer.

Definitely an interesting title that caught my eye awhile back.  I’ll probably be getting it since games that are all about atmosphere and exploration can be pretty awesome. Hopefully the execution is really good. I do have my doubts though… if it were easy to make a compelling game where all you do is walk around in the desert everyone would be doing it.

You could say the same thing about a game where all you do is blow wind at flowers. You underestimate thatgamecompany.

Will this game’s intro be a song by Journey?

I too would like to see a song by Journey in Journey:) I was actually hoping your Youtube link would be a video of the game Journey cut to a song by Journey.

      Journey!

I’m so glad this game exists:) ThatGameCompany seems to be the only US developer out to prove there’s more to video games than shooting people in the face. It seems downright Ico-like in it’s artistic, beautiful settings and mysterious, sort of sad tone. It’s about exploration and magic, not killing and combat, and that’s fantastic. I can’t wait for this game:)

I just hope it’s going to have replay value. I am eager to see how this will keep things interesting for long.

I think I left this off my list in the “do you have your gaming purchases for the year planned out” topic.

    Well, I made a mistake!
