Parasite Eve II Finally Makes Its Way To PS One Classics

Months after it was originally announced, Parasite Eve II is finally going up on the PlayStation Network this week.

Released on the Japanese PSN in March 2010, Parasite Eve II was announced for a U.S. PlayStation Store release a year later.

Parasite Eve II picks up three years after the first game and Aya is now part of the FBI, trying to deal with another outbreak of mitochondria.

The original Parasite Eve is a great game, but I like this one better.  If you don’t own it, I’d recommend picking it up.  Definitely worth it.

I really enjoy it as well.  It’s like they took early Resident Evil games and then added to it in every way. More story, more abilities, more weapons, more twisted enemy designs, more variance in enemy movement, and so on.

Of course, it admittedly makes it less “horror” since you do have the ability to better defend yourself against enemies.  Still, there are some decently creepy parts, especially if you explore everything.

about time. i read this last night on playstations blod site. i’ve been waiting for this to release so i can finally play the 3rd birthday (which i downloaded day 1)

Have fun with the game usbros. I bought it as soon as it popped up on the EU PSN (after that damned psn hacking thingie, I was aching for some ps1 classics action so I got that and FF VI).

Now I’ll patiently wait for that Import Feature on our PSN so we can get Parasite Eve 1 :)

You know, I want to crack an “about time” joke but I’m just happy this one finally got to see the light of day on PSN. Now if only there weren’t a con happening in 2x weeks, I could feel better dumping money into PSN right now. ><

    Yes~!

Now All I need is Final Fantasy VI and Chrono Cross PSN Downloads for my PSP and I’ll be set for the Year.

Yay!  Owned the first one for years but this one was harder to find, now I get a chance to play it.
How was 3rd Birthday?  I was been meaning to get it but slacked off on Square Enix titles in favor of the XSEED games at the time.

Granted, I shall admit that I have not PLAYED 3rd Birthday, where I have played the other two. But from what I READ of the story in 3rd, if you have ANY kind of love for Aya Breya the story in 3rd will make you turn into a demon of rage that will fly to Square Enix headquarters in order to personally seek out those responsible for this atrocity, and throw them into an active volcano.

So yeah- it might play in a good way, but the story is so atrocious I don’t care how fun it might be.

    Buying this!

Worth $6, but I did have some issues with PE2.  Having really enjoyed the semi-turn based battle system of the first game, upgrading guns, and using a bit of strategy in battles, I was a little uncomfortable with the idea of the sequel turning into a blatant PSX-era Resident Evil style action-adventure game that already felt clunky and outdated when it was released.  However, after playing a bit I started really getting into the game…

Until the god awful boring underground tunnel portion of the game.  All momentum came to a screeching halt during this overly long and dull section.  It would make my list of all time worst game “buzzkill” sections (aka the Breath of Fire III Desert of Death All-Stars).

Yeah not sure why the series wanted to be RE ish but it was still fun game…despise the part you mentioned…sooo long sooo bored :l

    • Locklear93

I feel the same, but to a much, much stronger degree.  I loved PE1, and absolutely loathed PE2.  I can’t think of a single other sequel in all of gaming that I hated this badly after loving the original.

      • Testsubject909

I personally loved both Parasite Eve 1 and 2. Though for drastically different reasons.

Albeit I can understand where the hate can come from.
        So more power to me.

    • mikanko

I was trying to remember why I never finished this game what was forever ago.  You reminded me!

  • ShinGundam

My favorite gun game and it is all about gunblade.
