Atlus have put up a new teaser site. Here’s what you’ll see if you click the link:

This Atlus Teaser Site Reminds Us Of A Popular Atlus Game

That looks an awful lot like it has to do with Persona 4, doesn’t it? To be on the safe side, don’t get your hopes too high. Even if it is Persona-related, it could simply be something to do with the upcoming anime series.

Read more stories about on Siliconera.

  • アキラ

    I hope it’s a new Persona game.

  • RagnaXBL

    persona 5 baby!

    • Ren

Nope. Each persona has a different aesthetic style. That is something about P4. If it was P5 they wouldn’t be using P4 style.

      • RagnaXBL

        yea i know, i was j/k :p

  • Blazeddc

    Probably a 4 port. ;o

    • Croix

To PSP. Or perhaps Vita. That seems to be the trend lately.

    • http://twitter.com/willofsilver Silver Lion

      I’d be surprised if it isn’t P4P

    • DanteJones

Hmm, didn’t Atlus say they weren’t going to do a Persona 4 port? I could be mistaken though.

      • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_N62BY4BCMH7PG5WDWRDOCQUTRI David

They said a persona was coming out for 3ds on the nintendo press conference a year ago ( i think, maybe 2), but they didn’t say if it was going to be a port or a new persona, or if it is a port which one it will be. The game announced then is most probably going to be a persona 4 port, because there ware already a ports for the other 3 ( so i’d guess they’d do the one that hasn’t had a port lately) or that announced game could be persona 5 if it’s a multiplatform game.

  • Hexen

Most likely a portable version from Persona series.

  • http://twitter.com/paulinchi28 Paulo Coaguila

    Oh God!

Atlus, dont make us wait!!! D:

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_O6IKTWFCSJLYCYPWEIVJYUVJZY NocturnalKami

Hmm… p-atlus…. Portable atlus!? Persona Portable!? (Ok… Maybe I’m just hoping for the Persona 4 port  to psp/vita idea here ^.^;) Haven’t heard about Persona 5 lately. Hmm… Atlus sure knows how to tease.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_GD6TBU4U3KAFZHD2U4BCCMQQ6Q LalalaGirl

New feMC? Or Persona 5? Personally, I’m fine with either, but I rather have the the latter..

    • puchinri

Having a feMC would be great for P4. Although since it’s yellow, I think P5 is kinda sorta out of the question. Possible, but it’d be odd.

      • http://profiles.yahoo.com/u/HAEBCODVH3BGFIHE47BKNDXD2I Jonathan

        Finally

        FeMC to romance Naoto

        as it should be

        • puchinri

Lol, that was actually the third thing that came to mind for me. But you are right. As it should be.

    • DanteJones

      (err, bah-leted)

    • DanteJones

:D (hopefully this one posts the image)

  • http://twitter.com/ChestnutBowl Chestnut Bowl

Probably a Persona 4 port. At worst, a Persona 4 social game.

  • MrSirFeatherFang

If it’s something portable, I would rather it not be on the PSP since it seems like it’s dying everywhere else, but Japan… Though this is a Japanese company… lol
On second thought, I’m wondering if it’s TGS related… though something tying in with the anime sounds likely…

  • RablaAndrews

    It’ll be Persona 4, and on 3DS since they confirmed a 3DS Persona Title after E3 2010.

If theres a Persona coming to Vita, it’ll be P2[EP]P

    • http://www.facebook.com/CalientePhoenix Phoenix Caliente

PSP or Vita is more likely, look at how developers are still moving with hot titles on the PSP front. An SMT game was listed for 3DS and look at where were at for ATLUS movement on that front. With SMT DS Overclocked, we have proof enough that they werent even ready for embracing 3DS features (no 3D beyond the opening cutscene…)

      • SirTeffy

I actually have to argue that point – Devil Survivor overclocked proves they ARE ready to embrace the 3DS features, BECAUSE of the opening cutscene. It’s by far the best video I’ve seen on the 3DS that actually showcases what the 3D effect can do, even in videos. Better than Nintendo Video does, even.

Tecmo Koei failed on the FMV front with both Samurai Warriors Chronicles AND Dead or Alive Dimensions, and Atlus stated that fitting all the content they did into Overclocked left no room on the cart for anything “extra”, like 3D during battles (Before someone jumps down my throat for “taking Atlus’s word on it”, I’m counterpointing with THEY FIT FULL VOICE ACTING INTO A 512 MEGABYTE CART). For Atlus to get right in one attempt what TK failed at TWICE is no small feat.

And they do also use the 3D (very well) in the Fusion cutscene as well, but everyone overlooks that.

        • http://www.facebook.com/CalientePhoenix Phoenix Caliente

Then I would have to disagree. Basing a developers competency of being ready for 3D on its cutscenes having 3D is odd. Cutscenes in BlazBlue CS II were not in 3D but the gameplay and even just dialogue segments were, showing, at least to us that they were willing to play around with 3D in the gameplay and game.

It is essentially the same as saying a companys games is fully taking advantage of HD by having its cutscenes in 1080p embracing high production values and then, in the game itself, it can only be in 576p. Were opening cutscenes and FMVs on the Wii indicative of that in the game itself? For Arc Rise Fantasia, definitely not.

          • SirTeffy

While that is a valid point, as I mentioned, they DO use 3D in the fusion sequences as well, and it works VERY well. The fact is, they did not do any 3D in Overclocked because there was no NEED for 3D in Overclocked – it’s a fully 2D game, and the only thing that could have been “3D-ified” was the actual battles themselves, and flipping the screens would have been pointless, not to mention the constant on-off-on-off of switching between 3D and 2D. They also included a really cute 3D Jack Frost icon to show what a 3D MegaTen on the 3DS would look like (and for an extremely-low poly model it’s ADORABLE)

EDIT: The more I’m watching the Devil Survivor opening, the more I think it’s actually in-engine – I’ve noticed some slowdown towards the end when all the cards are flying in a tornado. THAT makes me think Atlus has the 3DS’s capabilities wrangled better than thinking it was a CG opening.

        • malek86

Riviera had full voice acting too, and even dual audio. And it was 450MB. Granted, the script is probably shorter. But I think the low quality of portable audio means you can put a lot of stuff in there. Nothing to be particularly impressed at.

Besides, they could have used a bigger cartridge if they wanted. I just think they didn’t believe 3D was important during battles, and also it would have made it more expensive for them (to get 3D you need two images, so they would have needed to draw a slightly different version of each enemy sprite). In fact, it wouldn’t surprise me if the only reason they put 3D in the opening video was so they could check the “3D effect? Yes.” box in the back cover.

Considering this is only a port, for a platform which has had difficulties selling, and they already spent money on the voice actors, chances are they would have gone overbudget.

        • Ren

…The 3DS carts go up to 2GB right now, and are going to get even more space as time goes. They might be using a 512 MB or a 1GB cart though.

  • http://twitter.com/ifarah12 Gren

    It’s obviously a P4 port

    • http://profiles.yahoo.com/u/HAEBCODVH3BGFIHE47BKNDXD2I Jonathan

either PSV or 3DS would be fine, I’ll be getting both eventually

  • puchinri

Does the anime have its own official website yet? Because if not, that’d be my first guess.

But~. Every Persona game up til 4 has had its port already, and only 4 is left, so it could be hinting at something like that too?
(And hopefully, it’ll be on PSP or 3DS if it is our P4P…)

    • mikanko

      http://www.p4a.jp/

      I think it’ll be p4p for sure.

      • puchinri

        Oh, perfect then~!

Agreed. P4P is all it can be now.
Well. Unless they’re screwing with us. But I hope they’re not~.

  • http://twitter.com/ifarah12 Gren

It WILL NOT be for the PSP, Atlus themselves have said themselves they did not like how P3P turned out

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Rudy-Soto/100001518601121 Rudy Soto

      I can imagine why.
The experience wasn’t the same without the the 3D overworld, and the character models were rather…weak.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_3KZQDTECKPLH4NOLTBD6HCGESI Nenad

….and what does this have to do with PSP? If they had wanted to make it “better” or more appealing, without cutting the whole exploration/cutscene thing out, they could have done so without a problem. I just say “2-UMD”.
But nope, they planned it this way with just a portable version in mind. The game is still one of the best either way.. and we got a different story angle with an female lead too, so its all good. It’s going to be P4P.

      • kupomogli

P3P didn’t even take up the entire UMD.  There was still 300MB left. I’d assume that most of the space in P3P was movie files.

        • burningstyle

300mb is nothing, and no when you open up the iso you would see that isn’t the case.. if they put in all the movies and all cutscenes(3d models) which the original p3 has.. >and yea I mean already resampled for the psp< ..even 2 UMD's wouldn't be enough .. I will not even start about a complete 3D World, with 3D models.

      • Kitestwinblades

There’s also a vita option as well. I wouldn’t rule the PSP/Vita out yet, by any means. Although this time, a full port of the 3D world would be nice. Not a must, but you clearly have the technology there.

        • malek86

I actually think the 3D world could have been possible on the PSP too, even without using two discs. I can’t think of a reason otherwise, it’s not like it was taking heaps of space. Maybe they just took a chance to try and streamline the game, but it didn’t turn out well.

          • Kitestwinblades

yeah i completely agree. in fact with all these touch features on the vita it almost sounds like it should be the other way around lol But either way your right about the normal game working on umd’s. If this is another Persona portable i hope they give us more of the original look. Fes DID have a lot more extras so maybe space really was a problem… plus all that extra gender stuff. I respect them for trying something different and I’m sure it still felt like persona but there’s nothing like being on good old foot during the day XD

          • burningstyle

yes space was the main issue. If they didn’t make the Female storyline, they could have done a somewhat similiar 3D world, not a 1:1 port but close to it, but now how it is.. count in the music, voice files (for both storylines), 3D models, animation, combat AI for both sides… with such a lenghty game its gettin pretty much full very soon, with the around 300mb rest space.. they could have done either 100 voice files, throw in around 120 portrait conversations, or build in 1 or 2 lenghty side quests (similiar to the Ice Queen side quest from P1). thats all

    • http://profiles.yahoo.com/u/HAEBCODVH3BGFIHE47BKNDXD2I Jonathan

      . . . all things considered P3P > P3

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Rudy-Soto/100001518601121 Rudy Soto

If its a remake for the 3DS, I will march to the nearest store right away, and purchase a 3DS.

    • http://profiles.yahoo.com/u/HAEBCODVH3BGFIHE47BKNDXD2I Jonathan

      I’ll be there too~

    • OneOkami

I’d bet if anything its more likely a PSP or Vita game than a 3DS game.

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Utku-Savaş/571425196 Utku Savaş

Everyone has Vita fetish these days…

        • OneOkami

I’m mainly basing that on past history with Persona portable ports, the fact that P4 for was a successful game for a Sony console and that it seems like a better fit for the Vita (especially if they’re planning to enhance it in some way).

…But i’ll also admit that while I still have high hopes for my 3DS, I’m far more excited for the Vita at this point.  The library has already given me signposts of being more satisfying, and if indeed turns out to be region-free as was “unofficially” confirmed, then that fact alone puts it ahead of the 3DS in my book.  Nintendo dropped the ball on that one.

  • malek86

What if it’s just a portal site for the series? Since it’s become so popular, and now there are multiple games and an anime too, it makes sense to have one.

    • amagidyne

That does make sense, except- why use the P4 motif? If it’s a site for the entire series then I would expect a golden butterfly or something. Granted, unless you count ports then P4 is the newest (and in my humble opinion, best) game in the series, but it never reached the popularity of P3 in Japan.

EDIT: On the other hand, the URL does seem to suggest you’re right.

      • malek86

Wel, maybe they used the P4 font because the most recent Persona product is the upcoming anime.

Of course, they could also use the chance to announce a P4P or something. Maybe for 3DS/PSP/whatever. It seems a good idea to publish a game while the anime is running, as shown by the success of Steins;Gate PSP.

  • Yesshua

I reckon Persona 4 Portable for the 3DS and Vita is the best bet here.  Other Persona games have been given portable versions and have done pretty well for themselves.  Atlus would no doubt LOVE to put a new version of P4 on the market in time to cross sell with the anime coming out.

I reckon it will hit the Vita because all the other Persona ports hit the PSP, and I reckon it will hit the 3DS because Atlus said they have something Persona coming to the platform.

  • http://profiles.yahoo.com/u/HAEBCODVH3BGFIHE47BKNDXD2I Jonathan

please be P4P please be P4P please be P4P please be P4P please be P4P please be P4P please be P4P please be P4P please be P4P please be P4P please be P4P

I was so bummed when the last one was such a colossal let-down O A O

    • OneOkami

You’re talking about P3P?  What about it let you down?  I’ll admit I wasn’t a huge fan of the visual novel adventure style outside of Tartarus/battles.  Also, the anime cutscenes being left out I guess were due to space constraints on the media.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Utku-Savaş/571425196 Utku Savaş

And why on the earth I read FAP instead P4P?

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_N62BY4BCMH7PG5WDWRDOCQUTRI David

Maybe It’s perosona 4 – 2 ( like what square enix do with final fantasy XIII)
    who’s with me? :P

    • amagidyne

I don’t doubt that the next Persona game is in production (or pre-production), but would they announce it so soon? It’s only been about half a year (okay, a little longer than that) since the Persona team finished Catherine.

      • OneOkami

They may have been working on a Persona while Catherine was in development.  Catherine was in development during the polishing stages of Persona 4.

Personally, though, I’d prefer another core SMT game on a home console before another Persona (Nocturne still holds a special place in my heart).

        • http://www.facebook.com/people/Utku-Savaş/571425196 Utku Savaş

Persona 4-2 sounds like a soccer score. Nah, Atlus won’t do that. Maybe it will like Persona 2 series, Innocent Sin and Eternal Punishment. But then, I thought Eternal Punishment was meant to hit the European and American shelves, since Innocent Sin was never made it out of Japan.

p.s: Sorry OneOkami, this reply was meant to David.

          • http://www.facebook.com/people/Michael-Zajicek/13959604 Michael Zajicek

They did state over a year ago now that they were beginning work on the next Persona game, whatever that means. Could be they were talking about port, but everyone at the time assumed they were talking about Persona 5. That was a year ago in march. So I guess if you assume they started shortly there after with designing the scenario and writing the story, then maybe they are getting near to being able to share small teasers, leading up to a trailer sometime in the next year.

Given Atlus’ love of reusing game systems I would not be surprised to see a new Persona game using the Catherine Engine for the graphics. I mean the persona team got all that experiance working with it, and having played the game I doubt it would be that hard to change the system over to be usable by a RPG.

        • amagidyne

Like I said, I don’t doubt that they’ve been doing that. It’s just that Catherine was announced last August. That’s a little over two years after Persona 4′s release in Japan. By comparison, Catherine came out fairly recently (February 17), so I doubt we’ll see much info about their current project for a while. Or they’ll reveal it at TGS and prove me completely wrong, who knows.

Core SMT, Persona, a completely new subseries, it’s all good (as long as it’s got Meguro, Kaneko and/or Soejima).

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1362710807 Nick Turner

wasn’t p5 already announced like a year ago?

    • xNekux

      You mean P4 FES

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Aunna-Terrell/100001267508146 Aunna Terrell

Which they stated that a FES isn’t required for P4 because it was pretty complete.

  • MarkMario

Well since it has the same theme colors as P4 I would either say the anime or a port of it (Possibly to PSP or Vita).

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Utku-Savaş/571425196 Utku Savaş

My guess is Persona 4 Portable. PSVita is just too early for Atlus. Remember in PS2 era, they keep releasing PS2-exclusives after every game company left PS2 dead. There so much to do with PSP for Atlus. After they released P4P, they can begin porting Eternal Punishment Portable. With the last piece, they completed porting the whole series for PSP.

And I sincerely hope from Atlus that they’ll make a brand new Persona for 3DS. Enough of ports and remakes for 3DS will you?

    • heartless141

i hope it’s a P4P for PSP, my PS2 broke and that’s the only game i wanted to finish off on PS2.

      • Darkrise

They have to make a P4P, they’ve done so for all the other persona games.

        • http://www.facebook.com/people/Utku-Savaş/571425196 Utku Savaş

          Except Eternal Punishment.

    • Zonic505

I would greatly enjoy P4P for Vita, plus it’d give me a bigger motivation to get one. Plus w/ the Vita, there wouldn’t be as much cut content like w/ P3P.

      • Raiyu

Agreed. If it were on PSP, then they’d have to cut the animated scenes and the actual walking around parts like they did P3P.

Plus there is a possibility that they could add new scenes and animation from the anime.

  • Crimson_Cloud

Persona 4: FES! Honestly, I would rather see Persona 5 then updated/portable version of an older game.

    • http://thekamengamer.blogger.com The Kamen Gamer

After seeing/playing Catherine, I can’t wait for them to announce P5 and/or (cause this would be awesome) another RK game for the PS3. /drool

  • eliel

maybe they gona  promote the anime? or persona 4 vita/ or enhance version?

    • thebanditking

That would be awesome. P3P was my favorite version of P3 so I would love to see P4P on Vita.

  • Rihawf

    Persona 4 vita, please!

    • http://thekamengamer.blogger.com The Kamen Gamer

Ugh, like I need another reason to buy a Vita. -_- If it is a game, I’d rather see as PS3 “FES” version of P4. This is probably just about the anime series though.

      • KyoyaHibari

Lol FES was kindof pointless, they should add save data crossover if they do to make it worth while.

  • thaKingRocka

P4 expanded on consoles as a test-bed for new SMT games on the next gen hardware maybe?

    • Shinji

I tought Catherine was Atlus’ test bed for this gen…

I wouldn’t mind seeing a direct sequel or even a spinoff to 4. That game was oozing style and originality.

  • dahuuuundge

Please don’t let it be a port or an enhanced remake of Persona 4. I really want my Persona 5.

    • PersonaBull

In what way does a Persona 4 enhanced remake eliminate the chance for Persona 5?

If you’re really arguing over the couple of months that Atlus could have put into a possible P4P, it probably happened during Catherine in some way and didn’t have much of an impact on P5′s possible development.

Please let it be a port or an enhanced remake of Persona 4. I really want an enhanced remake or just a portable version in general, especially if it gives Persona 5 an even bigger budget and reception.

      • Testsubject909

What if it’s not an or, but an and?

As in. Enhanced and portable remake? PSVita.

        • PersonaBull

Well, that’s what I meant, really. Though, I think I’d prefer it on the 3DS for now, actually. I dunno, I’m torn… Getting the 3DS first, though I do intend on getting both systems. I now have an hour+ long commute to work each way, so portable gaming is definitely getting a large portion of my spending budget now.

      • dahuuuundge

I’m fine with a P4P getting released. I just prefer Persona 5 being put in first priority. The PS3 is long overdue for an Atlus RPG.

  • darkfox1

I hope ist a remake or for Persona 4 becaause I missed out on the PS2 one. This Is why I am loving my 3DS right about now. People bash on it because it has a lot of remakes and such but people like me who missed out on the originals of games like Devil Survivor, Tales Of The Abyss, Star Fox 64, etc. The 3DS is gonna have its own good games too which arent porta or remakes just give it time you guys. I also didnt own ANY DS so know I can even get games I never got to play like the Pokemon ones and other DS titles. So right now the 3DS is godlike for me. BTW please be Persona 4 3DS. Even though a Persona game never  got on any other platform nut a sony still why can’t that change?

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Legendarydynasty-Black/100002321647754 Legendarydynasty Black

They just finish developing Catherine in Feb. I think its a little too soon for Persona 5.

    • Strain42

About a year and a half ago though there was that article where they said “we are preparing to start work on the Next Persona” while they never actually said Persona 5, a lot of people took that to mean that it would be. Catherine was being worked on at the same time as P4, so it’s probable that they’ve got P5 in the works.

However I don’t believe for even a second that this particular site has anything to do with P5.

      • Testsubject909

Imagine they pull a switcharoo on you. The site looks like this picture up above and when you get on it as it nears closer to the release date of their new title or the announcement of their new title, the image itself seems to either wear off or just peel off or get corrupted and turn into the Persona 5 logo.

That’d be epic. Bait and Switch and catch everyone by surprise and ride the hype train to success.

But I doubt that’ll be it.

  • SirRichard

Maybe they’re going to use the anime to promote an updated re-release of Persona  4? Have the anime re-spark interest in the game, then release a PSP or PSV port?

  • SetzerGabbiani

It’s definitely Persona 4 related.  If it’s a portable version, it’s probably for Vita even though the 3DS can definitely handle the game.  It could feasibly be for both systems.  Anyway, the site will probably go live when TGS begins.

  • Roses4Aria

P4P anyone?  New female MC for the win! :P

Please please please let it be this. And please please please let it be for the 3DS or PSP.

Or PS3. A remastered version of P4 would be very welcome.

Imagine Persona 4 but utilizing the 3D stylings of Catherine for the playable sections… Though probably not, it’d make Teddie a bit weird.

  • Rihawf

Wow, look how many comments, and they even doubt if P4P will get support.
    P4P for Vita, NOW! :3

  • AndyFe

While I’m hoping it’s a new persona game it’s probably about the anime but here’s hoping

  • Shinji

I don’t think that it’s anime related because it already has a specific site, but the yellow color is a hint of something related to Persona 4. Let’s hope that’s a port of P4, if it’s for Psvita i’ll be even more happier, because of Disgaea 3 Return announcement this month.

  • SetzerGabbiani

As a marketing guy, it’s amazing to see how recognizable Persona 4′s branding is being the niche experience it is. Even if the word Atlus wasn’t in the url, people would recognize it.

Atlus seems to really take care to make sure that their games have a unique visual identity. They must have some solid designers working for them.

  • xNekux

    probably psvita port

i really hope its not Persona 4 on PSP…..cause we don’t want that

    • XxDestinyXx

      I do! lol

I second that! Although I would rather have it on vita though…

  • sandra10

I’ll take a Vita port no problem. The Vita will need a strong JRPG to keep me entertained. If Namco feels like porting Tales of Vesperia, they should feel more than free to because I would buy it in a heartbeat (stupid Japan exclusivity!).

Edit: Or the Radiant Mythology games and Tales of Versus.

      With you on that one!

    • http://twitter.com/Vanpan110494 Sentoro Katarashi

Well, we’re getting Disgaea 3 for the Vita (which is JRPG), but another such as this would be wonderful, yes?

      • Shinji

        Definitely!!

      • FireCouch

        Yeah, but it’s an SRPG.

Actually I am expected SE to release FFV and FFVI remakes for PSVita. Only Vita can handle the epicness of these two FFs. And of course I’ll like to see some Atlus JRPGs also.

      • sandra10

I think those two will be released on the 3DS.

        • http://theurbanmission.posterous.com Joshua Miller

I think they were waiting to see how the 3DS sold before they started remakes of those. It didn’t really sell all that well, so maybe there’s still a chance?

  • OverlordFuka

Ooh wow I hope it’s like, P4P or something. Female perspective would be cool.

Even so, a PS Vita remake would be awesome as well. Of course it could just be related to the anime. <_< Or maybe a sequel? XD (Nah.)

I found this little beauty in the source code of the page:

ペルソナ・ポータル roughly translates to Persona Portal, I think.

This probably means that it’s gonna be a portal site for all of the Persona games. That, coupled with their announcement a while ago that they won’t make P4P…could just mean that there is still a bit of hope for P5 to show up at TGS.
