VC is considered dead outside of Japan? I guess so!
    ;_;

    • HistorysGreatestMonster

If they’d release it for the system that the fanbase is actually on over here, it wouldn’t be anymore.

      • http://twitter.com/#!/Leafy_Cam Leafhopper

I already coped with VC2 not being on the PS3 because it turned out to be pretty good anyway but, yeah you are right.

        • HistorysGreatestMonster

I’m sure it is pretty good. That’s why we want it on PS3. ^_^

    • Ryos

It’s not just VC – Sega considers the PSP dead outside of Japan.  Now I guess it’s possible that a future (unlikely) entry in the series could go on a console, but since the first VC didn’t sell well here, I don’t know if Sega’d bother with that either…

      • http://twitter.com/#!/Leafy_Cam Leafhopper

Not in Sega’s eyes but VC 2 already sold as much as VC1 did infact maybe more. That should mean something. *sigh* it really is sad though..

        • http://twitter.com/furdworetzky Fur Dworetzky

While VC2 did sell better than VC1, it should be noted that this is entirely due to the Japanese audience actually picking up VC2. If I remember correctly, Americans bought three times as many copies of VC1 as Japanese.

I personally think that PS3 has matured enough in Japan now that they’d have gotten much better sales overall if they had released VC2 and VC3 for PS3 with international releases, but ah well.

          • http://myfigurecollection.net/collection/DrakosAmatras DrakosAmatras

Aw… Cheer up! We just might get a Valkyria Chronicles HD Collection at some point. Who knows?

        • HistorysGreatestMonster

In Japan VC2 sold better than VC1. In the West, VC1 did something like 6 times as much.

      • HistorysGreatestMonster

I’d say 600,000 is REALLY good for a Japanese Strategy RPG, given no hype.

  • PrinceHeir

it does include everything from the original, just added new scenes and missions right???

ehh it was only 4 dlcs??? how many DLC does the Original game had??

man this is your chance Sega US to step up and localize this. if not there’s always the “other” way :P

  • http://www.facebook.com/CalientePhoenix Phoenix Caliente

This is so boo. I clicked on the thread thinking that they were releasing the extra edition in the west. I do want to see more screens.

    • http://myfigurecollection.net/collection/DrakosAmatras DrakosAmatras

      …Please don’t remind me… T_T

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Legendarydynasty-Black/100002321647754 Legendarydynasty Black

This is not a good time to be a VC fan outside of Japan. Sega would rather make a budget version of the game WE want instead of putting all their effort into trying to reach out to a potential fanbase in NA and EU and not Remaster VC2 and VC3 in one blu-ray disc for ps3 which would be a better idea since ps3 gamers would be interested since they never got a chance to play these without a psp. Granted i am perfectly fine with the psp but sega seems to abandon it everywhere that is outside of Japan. This is just my thought on this crisis.

    • http://bmgf.bulbagarden.net/members/55321.html FinalArcadia

The remastered VC2 + VC3 idea would be brilliant because the original was on PS3. A lot of people who might’ve loved that one probably just skipped the PSP sequels just because they’re on a handheld (which is silly, but still). Put them all together on one console, and I guarantee the sales would be better, and those who passed on VC2 PSP edition would get back into the series.

      • LynxAmali

What about the PSP owners who want to play VC3 in English? That’s essentially gimping them then. Although I sort of agree with the remaster idea too. Although that would be on the developer’s part, not the publishers.

        • http://www.facebook.com/people/Legendarydynasty-Black/100002321647754 Legendarydynasty Black

What were the psp owners saying when they never played VC1 since it was on ps3??  dun dun dunnnnn!!!!!!!!!!!

          • http://www.facebook.com/Kite22 Doug Rogers

Yes because a PSP owner can’t possibly also be a PS3 owner! why everyone knows that anyone who plays the games on PSP has never touched the first one!

          • LynxAmali

For one thing, your comment makes absolutely no sense. Second thing; VC1 was the original title. Many series find that the audience that they are trying to hit tend to have handhelds and not consoles. Also; I never complained about not being about to play VC1. I bought the game and played it on my friend’s PS3. :P

        • http://bmgf.bulbagarden.net/members/55321.html FinalArcadia

I’d like to have it on PSP too. I love being able to take games on the go. But if the PSP is dead to SEGA and VC could find new life on the PS3 (again), then we might need to settle with that. For the sake of the franchise’s existence in the west.

  • kupomogli

Sega please release this, Black Panther Yakuza, and Yakuza of the End in the US.

    • kupomogli

I have a great idea.  Sega could localize them and put them on Vita cards, and sell them as Vita games.

      • http://myfigurecollection.net/collection/DrakosAmatras DrakosAmatras

That’s what I’m hoping too! Of course, we’ll have to see if PSV can overcome the PSP stigma. If it does, I’d say it’s not unreasonable to hope so.

  • http://twitter.com/Vanpan110494 Sentoro Katarashi

Well this is nice…..except what about AMERICA?! T-T

  • http://twitter.com/Sesshomaru47 Kaidan Roberts

Sigh..We’re not going to get this, face it. Just another game I will have to bumble my way through with a guide (I hope) and a limited vocabulary of Japanese.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=2034389 Andrew Strozier

I wish it’d add English and availability on the U.S. and Euro PSN.

  • Syltique

Siliconera staff, can you contact Sega and attempt to get a comment about the status of Valkyria Chronicles 3′s NA localization?  As far as I can tell, they haven’t even been asked.  I haven’t seen any denials or even a “no comment.”  Follow up questions about a potential Vita release, or PSP HD Remasters would be nice.

The worst part about it is that they won’t just say that it’s not coming out.  They just literally haven’t said anything.  Even on the Sega.com forums it’s no better.

Even worse is that the Galbadian Liberation Front (online VC3 petition campaign) just got underway.

    • http://twitter.com/ShinobiMuramasa Justin H

Sega has been asked about it. The fans organized to get an answer from Sega about this months ago. Read this topic for information about it: http://forums.sega.com/showthread.php?374072-It-s-time-we-took-our-VC3-questions-to-Twitter

    • Ladius

It’s Gallian, let’s not mix FF8 with this XD

Also, the GLF petition is actually one of the most impressive I’ve seen for less-than-mainstream titles in the last months, with more than 1200 signatures. Even Destructoid featured it.

It will probably end up as an useless effort, but still it’s the only way fans have to show their relevance to Sega or any other interested publisher.

Here’s the link, by the way: http://www.petitiononline.com/vc3/petition.html

      • Syltique

         hahaha, woops!

  • shion16

First Tales of, now Valkyria Chronicles!?
    Im sad

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Wayne-LaBranch/100002132711844 Wayne LaBranch

Indeed,  Stop hogging all the good games Japan :l

      • http://myfigurecollection.net/collection/DrakosAmatras DrakosAmatras

That’s why I decided to learn Japanese instead. Sure, it takes at least a couple of years, but hey, that’s much shorter than the localization time for some games, even more so for EU releases.

  • http://bmgf.bulbagarden.net/members/55321.html FinalArcadia

I’m seriously hoping that this re-release will add fuel to the localization fire. I mean, Japan gets TWO releases and we can’t get ANY!? What kind of cruel world is this?

  • http://profiles.yahoo.com/u/HAEBCODVH3BGFIHE47BKNDXD2I Jonathan

    bring

    this

    version

    to

    America

  • http://strictlyapathy.comoj.com/ SoulArbiter

You know what would also be great news? That this game gets localisation! This is a great series, it should get a push for a Western release!

  • Gilgadood

Way to kick us while were down sega… I was looking forward to this for so long. If anything from japan that hasnt reached over here I want more, it would be THIS GAME. alas… no such luck…

  • d19xx

Sega: “We know fans outside Japan wants VC3, so we made another game for Japan for you to rage on!”

Andriasang also has news that VC2 is getting a budget version.

  • http://twitter.com/seph_luis_br Luis Camargo

Sega bring this version to America. We need it.

    • Mantiskilla

You don’t NEED the game.  Want sure but need?  Nah

  • http://www.youtube.com/user/EnvyMizuhashi Garyuu

I swear, SEGA is giving me every reason to go Asura on their asses. :/

  • AzureNova

Nice, nice, now only if they would remake it for PS3 and localize it.

  • sandra10

They should definitely localize this game even if they don’t put it on UMDs. It’s a great way to reVITAlize the series in the West.

  • Lexaus_the_Alchemist

Jeez. Why is it always the American branches of these companies that puts the hurt on us loyal fans? I want to defend Gallia with my Japanese brothers and sisters, too. Why do you prevent me from joining the ranks because I can only speak English? =(

    • SeventhEvening

Because no one seems to buy PSP games in the US. Same reason I had to import Monster Hunter Portable 3rd.

  • Rarutos

*Secretly hopes that Sega of America/Europe was waiting for this to come out to release it in the west*

  • Learii

    remaster it =D

  • http://twitter.com/RyougaZell RyougaZell

    I hate you Sega.

  • SolidusSnake

Cool, so they were just waiting for the updated version to come out before they announced the US localization. Well played, Sega, well played.

    • http://www.starcreator.com/ StarCreator

That would definitely be an improvement over their previous “announce sequels days before the localized versions go out” MO.

  • Palmer Nyako

Ahh too bad we don’t buy games in America.
    We steal them.
    :/

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Ex-Detsu/100001670613988 Ex Detsu

      >implying Japan doesn’t steal games

      • Palmer Nyako

        Ahh i guess i did!

        • Mantiskilla

I think if you go by percentages I think Europe pirates the most

  • KaruCgSt

It´s so wonderful like adding salt to a wound u.u

  • http://www.facebook.com/JoseNelsonMayenMiranda Jose Nelson Mayen Miranda
    • HistorysGreatestMonster

I’d sign it if it were for a PS3 remaster. Don’t own a PSP, so this wouldn’t help me or the other hundreds of thousands of people who bought the original.

      • http://www.facebook.com/Kite22 Doug Rogers

Well that’s not our problem now is it? the series was nice on the PS3
but the handheld titles are perfectly fine.  You could also you know,
just sign it for all those of us who DO have PSP’s and such and would
        like the game.

That’s something that has always bugged me about the VC 1 fans, they
can’t accept that while maybe THEY don’t like the series being on the
handelds, others don’t mind and it’s not fair to try and screw US out of
something just because it’s not on the system YOU want.

        • HistorysGreatestMonster

Why would I sign something for a system I don’t own?

      • http://bmgf.bulbagarden.net/members/55321.html FinalArcadia

You can get a PSP on the cheap now. Even if VC3 doesn’t come out on it, there are still TONS of quality games available for PSP. Just a thought.

  • Luna Kazemaru

I don’t care if its psp or ps3 (unlike some people who can’t get over it). Come on Sega you know you got fans of VC outside of Japan yet you shoot us all in the foot with making another version for Japan that’s just dirty honestly

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Wayne-LaBranch/100002132711844 Wayne LaBranch

Same, doesn’t matter which system, its all the same great game and damn it we want it Sega :l

  • theworldofnoboundries

Hiks first Bamco with Tales and Gundam series canned inside Japan forever and now Sega?? Hell who will be next?

  • http://www.gamefaqs.com/features/recognition/21421.html?type=4 Kashell

It’s time for them to announce this game stateside. Seriously. It’s time. I refuse to let Avan’s stupid laugh be the last thing I remember from the world of Valkyira.

  • HistorysGreatestMonster

That’s very nice, Sega. Now, get to making a Western PS3 HD Remaster of that an VC2 and you’ll get yourself some sales again.

    • Luna Kazemaru

You know thats why they really aren’t thinking of bringing it to the west because people keep saying they only want it back on the ps3 and not take what they got right?

      • HistorysGreatestMonster

Well, most of the fans of the series DO only want it back on PS3. It’d be nice for the PSP owners to get VC2 and VC3 as is, but that doesn’t help a lot of us who supported the series originally. The sales of VC2 compared to VC1 already speak to this.

  • http://myanimelist.net/profile/Kuronoa Kuronoa

I hope this gets localized, Sega west held off now it is a good time to put this on PSN only if it scares them.

  • AndyFe

While this is nice and all but I would, like most people, like to have VC 2 and 3 hd remake for the ps3. that would be awesome please

  • dragoon_slayer12

when is this releasing in Na…. I been waiting for it so I can start the series all in one shot

    • Mister_Nep

Never. Sega USA isn’t supporting the PSP anymore.

  • Mister_Nep

NoooOOoOOO! I just imported the game last week. I picked a horrible time to pick it up.

  • 128bitigor

Does anyone know of a translation of some kind? That would urge me to import the Japanese version.

I think the main issue here is that SEGA is not treating the audience of this new franchise well. Refusing to localize even a PSN version of the 3rd installment of Valkyria Chronicles is reminiscent of the Shining Force fans getting screwed out of the 2nd and 3rd disk scenarios of sega saturn’s Shining Force 3.

    • SalomeHarras

It’s not that, this is purely a business (accounting) decision.  I’m pretty confident SEGA doesn’t go out of their way to make their consumers “miserable”, as that isn’t a very good approach to business to begin with and affects their bottom line.

It’s not possible to get the internal numbers (unless you worked for SEGA, but even then, you would be under contract not to divulge), but I’m pretty confident this is a simple matter of it not meeting the profit goals they would like to attain if they localized it.  It doesn’t help that the market for it is virtually non-existant outside of Japan.

  • fenix7

Even if they brought it over with only translated text and menus and no english voices, I would still  buy it!!
