Square Enix To Reveal Next Dragon Quest Game Next Week

On September 5th, Square Enix will reveal the next Dragon Quest game, the publisher has announced. The announcement will be streamed live through Square’s Ustream channel from 2:00 PM onward (Japan time).

Note that there’s no mention specifically of Dragon Quest X, in development for the Nintendo Wii. While it’s been quite some time since the game was announced, no details, screenshots or in-game footage have been shared thus far.

A trailer for Dragon Quest X will be included with the Dragon Quest Anniversary Collection, which is due out on September 15th.

Could this be why Nintendo’s stocks went up recently? Dragon Quest XI on 3DS or even Dragon Quest X jumping platforms?

Nintendo’s stock went up because of the 3DS conference on September 15th in general because people expect big game announcements from them there. TGS is going to have a fair number of 3DS games, too, so it makes sense for Nintendo to draw a little attention to them before the show (since they don’t attend).

So in other words, if the 3DS fails to bring consumer confidence up at this conference prices will drop again.

Should be interesting to see how the markets react Post TGS to Sony’s future hardware and Nintendo’s current one.

I think more important than this conference is how 3DS performs during the holiday, once its first two system-sellers (Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7) are out. If those fail, that’s when there’s an actual need for worry.

Am I supposed to hear that in a Jan Brady voice?  Because I totally did.

About time, considering DQ10 was announced, like, three years ago… it was getting dangerously close to Versus levels.

What’s 2pm Japan converted in to American time zones?

Sweet! Right on my Birthday! And I’m already excited for Disgaea 4 the next day.

I’m expecting good news square. How about a Dragon quest game for the PS3 (or at least Multiplatform)? Haven’t seen a DQ game released outside of Nintendo Platforms for over half a decade :<

…for some reason, I want to say something about Chrono Trigger too… have no clue why lol Probably because Akira did the art for these games and when i don't play a game with his art style for a certain amount of time, I get really RPG hungry. XD PSN release of DQ/Trigger is welcomed too! I can live without the stuff added on the DS version and add Chrono Cross while your at it!

Dragon Quest games always had this tradition of appearing on the most popular consoles whenever they’re released. Sure that nowadays the ps3 and 360 are catching up to the Wii, but it did sold tremendously great, more so by the time this game was announced to be a Wii exclusive.

So SE is basically keeping up a DQ series tradition here :)

      • malek86

Didn’t FF also have a tradition of appearing on the most popular console? That sure changed with FF13.

I guess Squenix just got unlucky with their timing, when they announced DQX for the Wii. Nowadays, they’d probably change their mind.

      • HistorysGreatestMonster

Actually, the Wii hasn’t been the most popular console in a long while. Sure, it has the most sold, overall sales, but the PS3 has been outselling it weekly for, what, a year? Maybe two, in Japan?

DQ appeared more on Nintendo platforms anyways.  Save for VII and VIII Sony hasn’t had numbered entries besides remakes.

I can’t wait to see the sequel, but I’m surprised that no one commented on their cosplays. Don’t they just look adorable?

    • MrRobbyM

The two on the right seem to have theirs totally wrong..

lol Oh well. Still works for me.
