Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker HD To Support Online Co-op

By Ishaan . September 5, 2011 . 9:58am

The version of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker in Metal Gear Solid HD Collection has a bunch of upgrades, most notable amongst which is the fact that it runs at 60 frames-per-second, as opposed to 30fps, which is what the original PSP version ran at.

Another upgrade, Kojima reveals, is that Peace Walker will support 4-player online co-op over Xbox Live and PlayStation Network. The original PSP game only had support for local cooperative play. Konami tweeted the above image of Kojima giving the co-op feature a go.

How important is it for me to play Portable Ops?  Should I play?  Or should I just watch someone online?  Or should I just forget it and get the collection?

    • TeddyAltman

Portable Ops was alright. Its gameplay was underdeveloped and sometimes tedious and its story got pretty boring at times.

      • PrinceHeir

        lol what???

Portable Ops was one of my favorite cutscenes from the MGS Saga. the way they show how Naked Snake began to question The Boss motive and how he slowly became Big Boss is awesome. though the gameplay definitely need the Dual Shock treatment due to lack of triggers and analogs.

i say yes play that game, amazing story and you’ll see cameos of soon the be characters from Metal Gear games. plus the music is very Snake Eater with alot of remixes and orchestra feel :P

        • TeddyAltman

Well i didnt tell him NOT to buy it :P I’m just pointing out the fact that I don’t think it compares to the other mgs games. Recruiting people was the most tedious thing ever and i didnt like some of the retcons…

          • PrinceHeir

well yeah the recruiting style was tedious. good thing they fixed it on Peace Walker using the Fulton Recovery System.

what kind of retcons you didn’t like??? :

MGS HD collection’s getting better and better.

  • Lion’s Paw

Well co-op is finally confirmed. I wonder what they will do about the wifi recruit mode? That was one way to get a good mix of high ranked soldiers at a decent rate.

I wonder if it will still have the NetVocaloid service too. It would be even nicer if other people could hear your creations as well, I don’t see why not since home consoles tend to be on better connections.

Now that’s just asking too much already.

I was waiting for them to announce this. This online co-op feature is a great idea and one of the reason I’ll most likely pick up the HD port of PW.
