DSi XL To Get New Metallic Rose Colour Next Week

The 3DS isn’t the only system getting a new colour this month; the DSi XL is, too. Nintendo will release a Metallic Rose DSi XL model next week. It’ll come pre-loaded with Flipnote Studio, Brain Age Express: Math, Brain Age Express: Arts & Letters and Photo Clock.

 

Why a pink colour? Nintendo are targeting kids returning to school — girls specifically — with the rose DSi XL and the release of Kirby: Mass Attack, which releases a day later.

 

The Metallic Rose DSi XL will release on September 18th at $170.

    Love the metallic rose color. That was the color of my second DS Lite. Too bad I traded it in for a 3DS.

      That’s what I would like to know. This would have made more sense around the system’s launch but now, it just seems pointless.

        Beats me as well. Either clear their stock of manufactured but unpainted units or absorb low the impact of the 3DS price drop, but these are just guesses.

        I wonder how many normal consumers will confuse this with the 3DS.

    I love pink (I used to own a pink DS Lite), but what is up with that price?!?! It costs as much as a 3DS which is fully compatible with all DS titles regardless of region.

      Yeah, the price is a little high, but I guess it justified because it’s bigger. Though, I think a price cut is coming because like you said, a 3DS is the same price and it can play DS games.

    Ive seen a few guys with the previous pink units and isnt Kirby a game that targets both genders?

    thus would be a nice Xmas gift for my two oldest daughters and wife if priced correctly. You know, not the same price as the better console that plays the same games plus more, with 3d, and extra features…. They should discontinue the lite and dsi models and drop the XL to 100$ (at $130, you can cough up $40 to get a better console. The $70 price gap is a 2-4 game difference)

    Yay! Now I can get this to match my Lite~. And when the inevitable pink 3DS comes out, I shall get that too.
    (I guess the irony is, I didn’t even want a pink Lite in the first place, but it’s grown on me…)
