So, About That Massive Shock Pokémon Announcement...

Yesterday, we reported that a "massive shock" Pokémon announcement was to be expected on next Sunday’s episode of Pokémon Smash in Japan. Serebii.net brings an update on this situation, which suggests this may not be as big of a shocker as TV Tokyo say.

 

Serebii says the official Pokémon Smash site states that game information will indeed will be revealed during next week’s episode. That said, today’s episode of Pokémon Smash mentioned that Mewtwo will be given away soon through an event that will be detailed next week.

 

Additionally, a preview of next week’s episode showed director, Junichi Masuda carrying a censored sign with a caption saying there would be a reveal of the present. At this point, it does sound like the Mewtwo giveaway will be “massive shock” announcement. We’ll keep our eyes open for further updates.

    I think it would be just plain odd to have him come up just to reveal they are giving away a MewTwo as well as verbally mention it while still teasing a surprise for the next episode…

    I hope it’s not a fizzle of an announcement.  It would be bad if everyone’s hopes and dreams are crushed over a weak announcement.

    I don’t understand why they would mention a Mewtwo event and then tease a big reveal for the next week. Its doubtful that those two things are one in the same. We’ll just have to wait and see I guess.

      Well, something to keep in mind is that Pokémon Smash’s audience is probably comprised largely of younger kids, so to them, a Mewtwo is probably exciting, haha.

    A real MewTwo?! Through an event?! Omg, what event? A battle tournament till death and the winner gets MewTwo and can start conquering the world in the name of Pokemon???

      AHAHA! You really are excited! No offense, but are you a teen or an adult? Rude question I bet, but I’m just proving to myself that even though Pokemon is usually aimed at younger folks, there are many older teens (16 to 18) and/or adults that still play and enjoy Pokemon, especially if they played over the years. Screw anyone that says Pokemon is childish.

        I’m 15 and I still play Pokemon (yeah I’m young), but it shouldn’t matter what age you are. If there’s a game or series you like, you have every right to play, no matter what opinions people have towards you.

        I agree with you, gaming overall shouldn’t depend on your age, but that you have fun with it, I love Pokemon since the Red/Blue days, and my feelings towards the series haven’t changed since.

          I’m in the exact same boat as you (minus one year of age) and agree completely! :)

          If somebody doesn’t like the greatness that is Pokemon, well, that’s their loss and their problem.

          If anything, my feelings toward the series have increased, since I thought Black and White were the best yet! :D

            I really got into Pokemon Black and White mainly because of the music. It was simply outstanding. I could never stop tapping my feet to the beat.

            I know, right? The Opelucid City song (Black version) makes me want to dance everytime I go there! And Nimbasa’s song never gets old either!

            Black and White’s soundtrack was a HUGE improvement over Diamond and Pearl’s (although the Team Galactic song on there was pretty cool too).

            Bingo! That’s what really got me going! The Elite Four battle theme, the legendary pokemon theme, Reshiram and Zekrom them…….ah….I just simply loved them!
            By the way, I’m (I swear) 22, and I still love Pokemon. Said this just in case I offended anyone.

            I agree, I find Black and White to be my personal favorites as well, and I’m loving the Best Wishes anime that is airing right now, quite a few changes, but to the better~

          I love Pokemon as much as you since the Red/Blue days, but it lessened when Gameboy died and DS took over because I switched to the PSP. Haven’t looked back since.

        I’m 23 and still play them. It released in NA when I was 11, and purposely got expelled from a private school cuz i would get home and miss the episodes (when they was on UPN at 3-4pm, I got out at 4:30, home by 6 due to being the last stop). I stopped watching the show after fighting Blaine, but get 1 version day one, and usually get the 3rd version when it releases. Soul Silver is my favorite one (only cuz its the better version of my favorite entry).

        I play it to check out the new pokemon, although the stories are getting better and better with each entry. And I don’t care, the games are a truly fine rpg series, period, regardless of the childish show (although I haven’t seen BW, I’m assuming its the same as the 800+. Episodes before it), age range of targeted market, or simple the story/Gameplay is. Personally, I want a mature story (although b&w is that) based on one of the stories mentioned in platinum (swordsman kills pokemon for sport, food, clothes, pokemon are ravaging in the wild while few cope with humans)

    That’s horribly disappointing, frankly. I’m still hoping the “massive shock” isn’t just “HEY THERE’S AN EVENT FOR MEWTWO”, though, but I guess I shouldn’t be surprised.

    Maybe they’ll finally release a legendary Pokemon from Black/White that are impossible to obtain, such as Meoletta (don’t know if I spelled that right), or dream world Pokemon that are still unavailable, such as dream world Snivy.

    Hey, I’d love a Mewtwo and all, but how is this a massive shock? Just because it’s a generation one Pokemon in a generation five game? Doesn’t make much sense, but oh well.

    Some surprise. It would’ve been a big deal for the kids though. I remember the contest on Gold/Silver that debut weeks after its release for players to win a Celebi. My sister won that contest. lol

        Don’t understimate Joey’s rattata, there’s an incredibly huge amount of rattatas roaming the land (like almost all of your encounters are either pidgeys and rattatas) among the myriad of rattatas having one of the top percentage rattatas must be nice, as nice as a perfect iv Bidoof
