A Walkthrough Of Gravity Daze With Director Keiichiro Toyama

By Ishaan . September 14, 2011 . 3:04pm

Sony have put up a video walkthrough of a portion of Gravity Daze for the PlayStation Vita. You can watch it below:

Gravity Daze is set in a floating town called Hekseville. The protagonist is an amnesiac girl named Gravity Kitten (or Kat). Gravity Daze has a Gravity Change feature, which you activate by pressing the R button. After you activate it, the game goes into a zero-gravity state, and you can adjust the camera by tilting the Vita.

Once you press R again, the direction the camera is pointed in becomes the direction that gravity flows in. You can use this feature to fly or walk across walls. Another action called Gravity Kick can be used in combat.

Gravity Daze is being developed by Sony, but it looks like the game won’t make it out in time for the Vita’s launch. No release timeframe has been announced yet.

This looks fantastic.  For original Vita games, this one takes the cake for me.

  • IceRomancer

The controls don’t sound too difficult so yeh, this game might just be perfect :P

  • Suicunesol

That gameplay looks pretty incredible. Not just graphics, but the way it’s designed. I like the 2.5d quirk they added too in the comic scenes too. It’s really clever.

I especially like the fact that I can perform an INAAAAAAZUUUUMAAAA KIIIIICKUUU!!!!!!!!

A part of me also knows this game would look great in s3D. Not to say it should be on the 3DS, because we all know that gyro+3D doesn’t work (but that’s because of the particular method 3DS uses to achieve 3D). But if 3D+gyro did work, it would look great.

beautiful!… gameplay…graphic AND style in one package (゚∀゚)

Is there any walkthrough to get to the girl in 0:40? No? It’s a good game then

  • Darkrise

I’m already looking forward to this game.

  • Herok

hey look the one new vita game that is looking good to me at the moment if sony does a bundle with game then it will be an instant buy

This game is so wonderful and refreshing. One of my top picks for the Vita

  • badmoogle

The game looks fantastic, gameplay seems interesting and fresh so this for sure will be the first game i purchase for Vita.

On another note i wish publishers like Nintendo and Sony would release more original, ambitious IPs like this one than sequels and hd ports.Although to be honest i wouldn’t mind if Toyama moved to another Siren game after GD.:p

Reason enough to get the psv first :D

UGH! no gyro and touchscreen garbage please :(

    • http://twitter.com/Fillytase Stephanie Michelle

Hmmm, the gyro controls looked fine to me.  And did they actually show any touch controls in that video?  Maybe I had a lapse in attention and didn’t notice but I don’t recall seeing any touch controls in that video.  Not that I would mind.  I rather like touch controls when done right (that is, not used for EVERYTHING; looking at you, Zelda: Phantom Hourglass)

      • Suicunesol

They used the touch screen to scroll through the comic scenes.

        • http://twitter.com/Fillytase Stephanie Michelle

Oh, right.  No harm done then imo.  I’m a DS fanatic, so naturally I’m a fan of touch controls (again, when done right) XD

According to an earlier demo I saw, you can also use the analog to control it. Gyro is optional.

Oh Japanese, you need to treat public videos like this less seriously. This sounded like a video they’d show to an investor or publisher rofl

This is probably too early to ask, but has anything been said about the name it will have when it gets localized? Amazon has it listed as “Gravity”, but then again it also has it listed for PSP, so it’s probably just completely wrong.

  • AzureNova

Gravity Daze is my main reason for getting a PSV. The controls looked fine to me, the innovative tilt to aim battle system was kool, and just from this short preview I already like the atmosphere of the game and Kat as a person. You can sort of tell what kind of personality she has by her dialog, expressions, actions, and how she interacted with the other characters. Kat for the win! =^_^=

This game looks cool! I really want a Vita (especially since I’m a 3DS owner currently), but man… that battery sounds sh*t. Just like the PSP 3000 and the 3DS. Out of all the lessons Sony learned from the PSP, why not apply the “battery” lesson to the Vita?

*sigh* I think I’m going to have to pass on this console, and all cool-looking games, until they do a redesign. Guess I’m waiting for the “PS Vita GO”. Dangit.

That tilting looks functional. Aim, attack, return the handheld to a neutral position during the attack.
