Namco Are Thinking Of Releasing Past Soulcalibur Games As Download Titles

Soulcalibur V director, Daishi Odashima, is at it again, with more tweets about the fifth game in Namco’s weapon-based fighting series. Odashima kicked things off with a comparison to Soulcalibur II.

“In SC2 there was a “level” set for each attack. The higher the level, the higher the priority. It’s not apparent but we still have it in SC5,” he tweeted. Odashima says that Soulcalibur V’s various systems, such as Guard Impact and Just Guard are still being adjusted. Soulcalibur V will have over 20 different stages to fight in.

Finally, Odashima revealed that Namco Bandai are thinking of releasing older Soulcalibur games as download titles. Without giving anything away, Odashima simply tweeted: “We are thinking of releasing past SC series as DLC.”

Hmm… I’m still curious about them guest characters… I probably won’t buy it because I still own in on the cube with good ol’ Link to whoop ass with.

Still got my copy on Gamecube (SCII), but I’d like to download it again! Especially on PSN if it could be played on PS Vita as well.

Honestly -and I’m probably alone on this- I’d rather have SC III downloadable. The levels/stages in that games were beautiful, best in the series IMO. Glitchy or not, III is my favorite.

I still enjoy it. Gotta press the X button and get pumped!

It’d be pretty cool to see the SC3 that was balanced and changed for arcades see a console release.  It was largely considered better and more polished, just Namco didn’t see enough of an audience to release the game a 2nd time on console.

I would be thrilled just with SC2 and -good- online netcode though.

What about the Dreamcast game for PSN?

Surprised this tweet made the news before shots of Astaroth and the new character, Viola, in SC5.

I’d need to get my “Edge of Soul” on.

    No…-_-

I think this kinda of fighting games really need a jump in the number of stages available, why don’t the developers produce a game with at least 30~50 stages that would make the game a lot more interesting and less repetitive.

But oh well at least it has more than SCIV I suppose.

Would love it as long as they bundle it with a good netcode.

I freakin loved SCII. Although i wont be able to use Link on the PS3, I’d be overjoyed to play that game all over again! Music and stage design was impressive at the time and I also thought it had the coolest version of Nightmare!

Soul Edge, Soul Calibur, II and III all remade in HD and packaged nicely in one disc would be nice.

    that would be sweet :P
