Promote Xenoblade Chronicles, Win The Last Story Or Pandoras Tower

Nintendo of Europe are getting creative with the marketing push for their niche Japanese titles on Wii. Xenoblade Chronicles, recently published in Europe, has been meet with a warm critical response, and NOE want to keep that to lead into The Last Story and Pandora’s Tower, both slated for a 2012 release.

Nintendo of Europe have launched a “Let’s Play Xenoblade Chronicles” contest, encouraging owners of the game to take video footage of it, showing why it’s enjoyable, and upload it to the contest website. The footage, they say, could be of an area or a side quest you enjoyed, or whatever else you can come up with, and shouldn’t be any longer than ten minutes. Look to these videos for an example.

At the end of October, five finalists will be chosen from all submitted entries, and then one final winner. The winning video will be uploaded to the game’s YouTube channel, and its creator will receive a voucher for both The Last Story and Pandora’s Tower, which they’ll be able to use to redeem the games once they’re released. The four runners-up will each receive a voucher for one of the two (of their choice).

The deadline for the contest is October 18th. Participants need to be 16 and up in age. You can read the rest of the contest rules at the website link above.

Those videos should also be sent to NoA. *nudge*

    • http://whatistheexcel.com/ Excel-2012

Realistically speaking, these videos are probably going to be used for an advertising campaign in North America, which means that Operation Rainfail will take credit for something that happened on its own. Which also means that the American release was delayed for reasons beyond Nintendo’s control and for whatever reason they couldn’t make it public. And it will carry the implication that Europeans deserved this game more.

Nintendo of America sucks because they no risk taking, yup!

At least you are honest. *nods*

Gee I wonder why that is.

    Import and download FTW!!

When there is no other option: Import and download FTW!!

  • Alexisonfire

So basically, NOA shrugged off Project Rainfall, while NOE embraced it.

If I’m not mistaken, this seems to be less of a “promote the games that are coming out” and more of someone higher up at NOE taking a stab at NOA, telling them to get their heads out of their ass and get in gear.

    • http://whatistheexcel.com/ Excel-2012

I think it’s more like Nintendo of Europe is intentionally fanning the flames and getting the American fans’ dander up because this is the first chance they’ve had to in years. They got one nice thing that the Americans didn’t and they have to parade it for as long as people are willing to listen, which I suspect will be a very long time. All because America can do absolutely nothing about it. I love how paradoxical this whole debacle is becoming.

You really think NoE is just doing this so they can be spiteful and go “nanny nanny boo boo” to Americans?  The company has a say in what they localize–they aren’t the ones who got shafted by game localizations  (or lack thereof) in the past, that’s the consumers.  So that’s… an interesting theory you have there.

“You really think NoE is just doing this so they can be spiteful and go ‘nanny nanny boo boo’ to Americans?”
That is exactly what I’m saying. You and I both know they’re laughing all the way to the bank as we speak.

          • http://twitter.com/Fillytase Stephanie Michelle

That doesn’t even make sense.  Why would a company, who has complete control over what they localize, brag about this?  ”HA HA, you filthy Americans, we’ve failed to localize countless great games in the past and now after screwing our fans for years we’re finally giving them something they want!  You jelly??? YEAH, NoE is awsum!!!”… If anything this is how consumers would act, not NoE. NoE has nothing to brag about.

I swear you’re reading my mind now.

  • epy

You are so sexy Nintendo of Europe~ Your cousin is cheap and ugly though.

And your mother is a who-

What? Oh that was from a movie? My bad.

  • puchinri

    Wow, that’s awesome. Now I wish I had a copy of the game. x’D;
When was Pandora’s Tower officially announced for EU though? I was kind of trying to keep track, but I guess the date slipped by me.

    • Shinji Kazuya

The dates for both The Last Story and Pandora’s Tower aren’t out yet I think.
We only know it’s 2012 so far.

      • puchinri

Ahh. I know TLS got an official confirmation, but I didn’t realize Pandora’s Tower did already (but I recall all the talk).

    Nice!

Although this game needs no promotion like this for deserving being played.

It’s one of the best JRPGs in a decade.

And actually, most people that have completed the three games agree that it’s the best of the Operation Rainfall games. (And curiously, they say that “The Last Story” is the weakest. By far).

  • epsilonalpha

I thought people reported they’re having problem FINDING the games on store shortly after its launch because of demand.

Didn’t think they need this but still a nice gesture for such a great game. :)

    • http://twitter.com/Xander_VJ David García Abril

Well, that’s also because they didn’t distribute too many copies.

Probably because, for this game, they preferred to deal with shortage of copies, rather than producing too many of them and not selling most of them.

      • epsilonalpha

Then I’m liking the fact that the amount of copy the poured on the market the first time around was basically sold out. Which means the game is a success.

I hope Monolith soft and Nintendo (the main branch) get the message and keep producing quality game like this, the Wii U will need it, badly.

  • theoriginaled

cute.. now any chance youll give them a US release? since you know.. people like them or something… and have been asking for them… and waiting for them…

Well what would I record? The best parts are obviously spoiler territory, but I also liked the team specific winquotes. And everything with Reyn and/or “this year’s legendary hero” in it is good comedy material.

    EUROPE >____<

I'm just going to start importing at this rate.

    • Guest

Yep, might as well, Nintendo of america is forcing us consumers to hack our wiis in order to play all these games.
